"God dammit." I cursed as I watched the old oil spill out of the car. Why hadn't I laid a pan under there to catch it?
Because you're too fucking distracted about Friday night!
I groaned and ran my hands through my hair in an irritated fashion.
He felt a hand clamp onto his shoulder, "You okay man?"
I nodded and turned to grab a role of paper towels, "Yeah. Great. You?" I kneeled down and began to drape the paper towels over the oil, hoping that it absorb most of it. "Good."
There was a moment of shared silence before Dakota asked the question that he obviously came to me for, "You guy's going to the show Friday?"
I sighed and nodded, "Yupp. Wouldn't miss it for the world." My smile flickered for a moment as I thought about Friday and what the future would bring us. Where it would bring her.
Was it bad of me to be disappointed that she could get somewhere because of this? Me?
Dakota furrowed his eyebrows, my flicker of sadness not going unnoticed, "You sure you're okay?"
I chuckled and nodded, thinking about Skylar, "I'm sure. I'm better than I've been in a long time."
He nodded and smiled, patting me on the back, "And hopefully that'll last for a long time."
I smiled, "Yeah."
...hopefully.

"New Hampshire huh?" Chloe asked from beside me.
I nodded and smiled slightly, "Yeah, he want to meet the rest of my family."
"How much more family do you have?"
"Not much, just my step-day and my grandparents. Nothing big."
Chloe smiled and took a bite of her pretzel. "Are you nervous?"
I though for a moment, but then shook my head, "No. If he can handle my mom and Madelyn, then he shouldn't have a problem with my step-dad and grandparents."
Chloe nodded, "I'm happy for you."
I smiled in thanks, "So what's new with you?"
She shrugged and typed in a long part number into the computer, spacing out, "Good."
But when I tried to catch her eye, she just looked away, "Chloe...what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, right, stop messing with me and just tell me the truth."
She sighed and ran her hands through her hair that I realized was up in a messy pony tail. One thing I knew about Chloe Barnes was that she never went out of the house looking like a wreck.
"Ian and I got into a fight last night."
My face softened, "About what?"
"He asked what was going to happen after summer, when I go to Julliard."
