Chapter Thirty - Ryan

Ryan

Last night invaded my memory as soon as my eyes opened.

My brother's stare to Skylar. Skylar's scared and terrified look as she saw Caleb again for the first time in years. My thoughts and walking away from her when she needed me.

What would've happened if I wouldn't have been there to stop Caleb's hand? Would Skylar have given up on me, hated me because I left when I should've been comforting her?

Like Caleb did.

It made me want to punch a hole through a wall at the thought of Caleb hurting Skylar. She was the most amazing thing to ever happen to me, and Caleb took her as some toy. He didn't appreciate what he had.

But what about when you used to do that? At one point, you used to hump and dump, you used to only use girls for sex. You're no better than Caleb.

Yes, I am better than Caleb. Sure I was a man whore, but at least I didn't hit a girl for sex. They wanted it too. Not just me.

But now, I couldn't imagine doing that. It made me sick to think that at one point I only used girls for sex. Girls like Skylar. Girls that had an ugly past and I just made their lives worse. What did I do to deserve her?

But I sure as hell didn't want her to leave. It hurt to think about her not in my life. No one to laugh with, no one to smile at, no one to invade my every thought. No one to fall asleep with. No one to watch. No one to protect. No one to be in love with.

Being in love was great, fantastic, I wanted to go back in time and scream at my eighteen year old self; Just wait! A better girl will come into your life and make you forget it all.

But it was also scary as hell.

At any point, she could chicken out. I didn't think we'd get this far, so it would be easier than ever to break my heart. This is uncharted territory. Neither of has have been here and probably never would be again.

Skylar groaned sighed, "What time is it?"

I picked up my phone and squinted at the bright light that it was giving off, "Eleven."

Skylar's eyes snapped open and she jumped out of bed, "Shit!" She ran into her room and I slowly followed after her. When I got to her bedroom, she was pulling on a pair of jeans but was shirtless, leaving her in her black bra.

I gulped.

She threw on a shirt and walked past me mumbling, "Shit, shitty shit shit shit."

I chuckled and followed her into the kitchen where she was rummaging through the fridge, "What are you doing?"

She pulled her head out and glanced over at me with wide eyes, "Don't you remember when Gen and Adam came over? We agreed on having breakfast here today. And I invited Chloe and Ian."

"And what time did we agree on it?"

"Eleven."

I groaned and trudged into our bedroom and threw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Why did we agree on having breakfast so damn early?

When I walked back into the kitchen, Skylar had multiple pans on the stove with various cooking ingredients sitting around the counter. When I was about to ask her what she was making, there was a knock on the door.
