Chapter 9

It was finally time to hand in the project for Maz.

Over that time Rey and Ben have been practicing almost everyday for the school play. The only thing was they had practiced everything except for,well, the kissing.

Leia had insisted that it would be fine, and that they could work on it later. The lines were more important. Ben and Rey weren't so sure, kissing meant obvious awkwardness.

"Hey Ben, do you have the ship model?"

"Yeah it's in my locker, let's go get it."

The two walked over to his locker and Ben took the model carefully into his hands.

"I think we did a good job Solo."

"Yeah we did Kenobi. But did you bring the paper?"

"Of course,don't worry."

"Okay good."

"Class you know what's due today right?"

"The project," the class grumbled.

"Okay bring them up!"

One by one students carefully brought over there projects to the table. Rey went up with Ben as they placed the clay millennium falcon on the project table, and handed the paper to Maz herself.

She examined both the ship and paper before nodding.

"Great job solo and Kenobi."

Rey smiles as she walks back to her seat.

At lunch Rey noticed that something was off with Ben. He barely ate his food and barely talked at all.

"Ben are you okay?"

She touched his arm and looked at him, concerned.

"Yeah I'm fine."

"Kylo Ren please report to the principals office!"

Rey watched as Ben sighed and made his way to the office. Something was definitely up. After managing to get away from Finn and Poe she went after him.

"Kylo Ren I see you go by Ben Solo now."

"Yes principal Snoke."

"This isn't acceptable!!!! Is that girl onto something?"

"No not at all sir, but I've come to tell you. I'm done."

"What?!"

"I no longer have to desire to be Kylo Ren and work for you."

"Ugh Solo you will pay! Now leave!"

Rey hid as Ben walked out, angry.

"Ben!"

He turned around sharply.

"Rey - did you hear all of that?"

"Admittedly yes...what happened?"

"Nothing Rey. I'll just tell you later."

Ben walked off defeated.

"Ben! Rey! I've been looking for you!"

Rey and Ben turned around to fine Leia trying to catch up with them.

"Yeah Leia?"

"I need you to guys to come with me. It's a special practice for only you two."

"Why?"

"To practice the balcony scene and kiss."

"Okay Rey make your way up to the balcony. Ben you will come from this side of the stage. Follow the lines, recite them, then kiss."

"Okay."

Rey climbed up the balcony and looked down at Ben.

"Action!"

Ben came into view and the both of them recited their lines. Then it was time to practice the kiss. He climbed up the balcony and looked at her.

They were going to do this

Ben leaned forward and so did Rey. Both of them were blushing. Then he kissed her, placing one hand on her cheek and the other on the balcony to support himself. Finally they pulled apart. Rey's cheeks were pink while Ben's face and ears were red.

"That was great! I see you guys are fine for opening night!'

Leia smiled as they climbed down and walked off the stage. There was an awkward silence between them.

"We better go back to class Ben."

"Yeah -"

They walked side to side to class together, giving each other glances along the way.

"Hey Rey!"

Ben waved his hands running to Rey.

"Ben, hi."

"I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner."

"Yeah I'd love to!"

"This is really good Leia!"

"Thank you Rey!"

Rey shoved the remaining meatloaf into her mouth. It was delicious. Ben watched her with a smile on his face.

"Hey Ben I have to go, Finns waiting outside."

"Okay I'll walk you out."

They walked out the door together.

"Bye Ben."

"Bye Rey."

She smiled at his before walking to the car waiting outside. Ben watched as Rey got into his car and they drove away. He smiled to himself before walking back inside.
