Authors Note: currently I'm at vacation and the wifi is spotty af so that's why I haven't been able to update my books but I just wanted to get this one last chapter out.
~ 1 Year Later ~
Rey smiled as Ben's grip on her hand tightened.
"You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Yes."
"It's been a year."
"I know, that's what makes it worse."
She nodded her other hand gripping the small bouquet of flowers.
"We are here." His voice was emotionless and Rey stared at the grave in front of her.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Just fine."
Rey could tell he was lying for the grip tightened on her hand and his eyes were distant.
"It's okay if —"
"No Rey. I want to do this."
"Okay if you need me I'm here."
Ben nodded as Rey placed the flowers down and stepped back.
Tears sprung from Rey's eyes as she watched Ben crouch in front of the grave.
"I'm so sorry father. I'm so sorry. I loved you, even if I didn't show it all the time. Even if I screamed at you all the time and said I hated you. I still loved you dad, I'm sorry. I wish I could've —"
He burst into tears and put his hands to his face. Maybe a year ago his reaction would've been different but sometimes time kicks in and changes people.
"It's going to be okay Ben, I promise."
Rey stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close. They stayed like that for a couple of moments longer.
She closed her eyes and looked back to when she first came to this school. When her and Ben hated each other. When he was Kylo Ren. Its almost hard for her to believe.
But then again, sith happens.
