I rolled out of Harry's arms at ten o'clock the following morning. I had a headache, that much was clear to me, but I couldn't shake the guilty feeling that was hanging over me. I knew I hadn't cheated, not properly, but I still felt horrible for Lucas. Even though we weren't boyfriend and girlfriend officially, I knew that I'd hate it if he did the same with his ex wife. I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at myself in the mirror. I was still wearing my dress, my makeup was smudged on my face, and I had broken my number one rule: no matter how drunk or tired you are, brush out the hairspray before you go to sleep.
Shit.
It was going to be a complete nightmare to sort out, and it's not as if I had bought anything that would sort out my appearance; I wasn't expecting to stay the night, it didn't even cross my mind. I cursed at Harry, not even bothering to whisper, causing him to stir and then look at me, his eyes widening in a complete state of shock.
"Holy...oh my god Liss, what happened?" he moaned, rolling over and face planting his pillow.
"What are you on about?" I asked, confused. "You hardly had anything to drink last night...so how do you not remember?"
"Um," he muttered, his voice still muffled from the pillow. "Check the mini fridge."
I raised my eyebrows at him and stood up, tripped over my shoes and opened the fridge. Inside, were four, empty, mini bottles of vodka. I scoffed, slammed it shut and then sat back on the bed, a threatening look of my face.
"How did I not know you were drunk when I came up last night?"
"I'd literally only just drank them...I think...I don't really know, I just wanted to drown my sorrows a little bit," he admitted.
"Because I wouldn't kiss you?"
"Yeah, I guess...I mean, don't get me wrong, I knew that we were just coming as friends, but I thought it could happen. I was stupid really, but...I don't know, part of me thought that there was still a chance for us...and when you said no, well, it hurt," he said, with a sad chuckle.
"You weren't stupid, I just...I don't know."
"Don't worry about it," he smiled. "Do you have any paracetamol?"
"Of course I do, I'll be right back."
I crossed into the ensuite bathroom and filled two small glasses with water. I handed a glass to him once I was back in the bedroom, placed mine on the bedside cabinet and reached for my bag. My hand clasped around the cardboard box, and I popped four pills onto my lap, two for him and two for me. I swallowed mine with the water and then I searched for my phone, my stomach dropping when I saw the screen.
Battery: 3%
Lucas: (18) missed calls (11) new messages
Hannah: (13) missed calls (7) new messages
"Bloody hell," breathed Harry, leaning his chin on my shoulder.
I swatted his face, and selected Lucas' number, jamming it to my ear, and waiting for him to answer. I almost became deaf when the call connected.
"Where the hell are you?!"
"Lucas, I'm so so so so sorry," I groaned, rubbing my ear. "I can't really talk now, my phone's about to die, but I'll be back in about an hour. I'm really sorry."
"You've spent the night with your ex boyfriend, I think I deserve to know what's going on...now."
"I promise you I'll explain when I get back."
"Why not now, I don't get what the fuck is so secret?" he snapped.
Harry sighed and took my phone from me, holding his hand over my mouth. "Listen buddy, she said her phone is about to die, she'll explain everything when she gets back, which will be in about an hour."
