The next day, Mekaila runs up to Codie with some exciting news. However, Codie is looking around for Parker, as she wants to tell him something. Mekaila is confused and wants all of Codie's focus on her.
"Hello! Earth to planet Codie! Can you hear me?!!?"
This breaks Codie away from her search and she says, "What?!?"
"Sorry to bother you, but I have some exciting news!" Mekaila exclaims.
"Oh, what's the news?"
"My dad is letting me get a puppy! I'm so excited!"
"Oh my gosh! Congrats! What kind are you going to get?
"I think either a Lab or a Golden Retriever. These are my two favorite breeds."
"Cool! I can't wait to meet it. Do you know when you're getting it?"
"My dad said we'll go this weekend. I can't wait, only two more days!"
"Awesome! Do you think I maybe could go with you guys? You know I love dogs."
"I'll ask my aunt and let you know tomorrow, I promise."
" Okay, cool, you might have to beg her."
"Don't worry, I will beg her until she gives in."
The girls smile and giggle at each other.
"Have you seen Parker at all?" Codie asks Mekaila.
"Sorry, no I haven't."
"That's okay, I'm going to go look for him. See you later!" Codie says, as she runs off.
"See ya!" Mekaila calls after her.
Codie heads into the cafe, looking for Parker. She finds Seth and asks him if he's seen Parker but he hasn't either. She heads out of the cafeteria and goes into the library, but she doesn't find him there either, but finds Emma.
"Hey girl, 'sup?" Emma flips her pink hair around as she looks through the books.
"Not much, just looking for Parker, have you seen him?" Codie starts looking through the books too.
Emma smacks her gum, blowing a big bubble and says, "No, I haven't, sorry."
"It's ok, I'll find him eventually." Codie says, as she grabs a book off the shelf that looks interesting to her.
"Hmmm.... This book looks interesting." Codie says, as she reads the back cover to find out what it's all about.
"What is it?" Emma asks
"It's called Ace of Hearts and it's about a German Shepherd, one of my favorite breeds of dog. I'll check it out."
"Hmmmm.... That's cool. But I'm looking for something that has more drama and gossip in it." Emma says as she keeps chewing her gum.
"See ya!" Codie calls as she checks out the book and Emma gives her a quick wave.
Codie decides to go look for him in the gym, as he did say he likes sports. She heads into the gym and immediately hears basketballs bouncing on the gym floor. She enters the gym and sees Parker, Austin, and Shane playing basketball with a couple other guys, including Seth. Parker spots Codie and waves, she waves back. She sees Tiffany and Madison sitting on the bleachers, watching the guys play.
Codie goes over and sits next to them, Madison smiling and saying hi. Tiffany, however, is too focused on the game to even notice her. Parker dunks the basketball into the net and Codie can't help but cheer and jump up from her seat. That's when Tiffany finally notices Codie and glares at her and rolls her eyes too. She ignores Tiffany and keeps cheering Parker on as he keeps scoring point after point.
However, Tiffany keeps glaring at her, but Madison doesn't care and cheers the guys on too. Finally, the game is over, when the bell rings. The guys head to the locker rooms, except Parker and Austin. Austin goes over to Tiffany and they hug, while Parker goes over to Codie and they high five.
"I've been looking for you everywhere! I actually almost gave up, but then I found you." Codie tells Parker as he grins at her.
Tiffany's curiosity gets the better of her and she listens to their conversation as Austin continues to hug her.
"Oh, were you now? Why were you looking for me, Codie?" Parker asks, as he says her name in a singsong voice.
"Well, Parker, I was looking for you cause I wanted to talk to you about your offer on going for a run together." Codie looks at his gleaming bright green eyes.
"Well, of course we'll go for a run, how can I refuse? When do you want to do it?" Parker looks at Codie's blue eyes.
"Well I think I'm going to be going with Mekaila on Saturday, so how about Sunday? Does that work for you?" Codie asks, as Parker smiles at her.
Meanwhile, Tiffany is still listening in on their conversation, while Austin puts his arm around her shoulders.
"Yes, that works for me." Parker says.
"Great, well we better get to class, don't want to be late." Codie heads off to class, as quickly as she can, saying bye to everyone.
She just barely makes it before the bell rings, to her first hour, which is science. Her teacher, Mrs. Matthews, seems surprised as Codie is usually one of the first students to get to class. Codie sits down and gets ready for science. Before she knows it, school is already over and she goes home.
