** Picture is of Clementine.**

It's Friday and Codie is feeling much better, but her mom wants her to wait until Monday to go back to school, just to make sure and to take precaution. Codie hangs out with her siblings, watching T.V., playing board games, and playing with the dogs. Chris and Sarah can tell that their sister is back, and they are very happy.

"Clem!" Codie whistles and the young Labrador comes running to her.

She pets her and Clementine licks her hand. Then, Codie throws a squeaky toy, squeaking it, and Clem chases after it, bringing it back. They play fetch for a little while, then Codie relaxes on the couch.

"So how's school? I know you haven't been in a week, but how was it going before then?" Sarah is quite curious.

"Oh, it's fine. Mekaila and Parker make it worth it." Codie smiles at her little sister.

"Cool." Sarah says.

"Hey, guess what?" Chris gives the girls a mischievous look.

"What?" They both ask at once.

"Mom and dad might let me get a dog!"

"Yay, another puppy!" Sarah jumps up and down.

"That's so cool, Chris. Do you know what kind you'll want?" Codie asks.

Just then, their mom pops her head into the living room, "Sarah, time for soccer practice."

"Okay mom, let me go get my shoes on and get my bag." Sarah hurries upstairs.

She comes back down a few minutes later, says goodbye to her brother and sister, and leaves with her mom.

"So.... what kind of dog?" Codie asks again.

"Oh, sorry, I'm thinking of getting a Pitbull or a Bulldog." Chris says.

"Cool!" Codie is excited.

"Cowgirl!" Mekaila yells and then whistles, wondering where her young dog went.

She took Cowgirl out for another run this morning, and the dog has disappeared on her. She whistles again, then sees a blur in the trees. A few minutes later, Cowgirl appears, tongue hanging out and barking.

"There you are! You had me worried sick!" Mekaila says, petting her.

"Woof!" Cowgirl barks at her.

"Let's go! Auntie will be worried sick." Mekaila starts to head back the way they came, but Cowgirl stays put and barks.

"What is it? C'mon, we have to go."

"Woof!" Cowgirl runs back through the trees and brush.

"Cowgirl!" Mekaila runs after her, ducking under branches and stepping over weeds and flowers.

Cowgirl stops at a small opening in the rocks, almost like a cave. She stands there, barking and whining, she looks at Mekaila.

"What is it, girl?" Mekaila steps forward to peer into the opening.

She sees a small baby deer in the opening, laying down in a weird position. Upon further inspection, she sees that the deer has an injured leg. She carefully picks it up, it struggles a little, but doesn't put up much of a fight, and wraps it in her flannel shirt. Cowgirl sniffs and licks the little creature.

"Now let's go." Mekaila says and Cowgirl follows her back to the house.

"I wonder how Codie is doing." Parker says, as he and Seth skip rocks in a small river.

"I'm sure she's fine, she's very strong and stubborn." Seth tries to reassure him.

"I know, but I'm still worried. You would be it if it was your girl." Parker gives him a look.

"True." Seth says.

They walk away from the river and Seth spots a piece of wood hanging off of a tree.

"Hey, what's that?" Seth asks, getting closer to the tree.

"It looks like the start of a tree house, or the old ruins of one anyway." Parker joins him at the bottom of the tree.

"Cool!"

"Yeah, but it needs some repairs."

"We could fix it up!" Seth looks at him, excitedly.

"Hmmmm.... Codie and Mekaila are two country girls, right?" Parker asks.

"Of course they are!" Seth laughs.

"Then, they'll love a tree house! Let's build it for them!"

"Yes, let's do it." Seth smiles.

"Okay, my dad has some wood back at his workshop and all the tools we need too." Parker says, excited, too.

"Cool, I'll go get some tools from my house, too. Let's meet back here in an hour?"

"Sounds good." Both boys head off in separate directions on their bikes.

A/N: Sorry, it was kind of a boring chapter. What do you guys think will happen with/to the baby deer? Also, do you think the boys will be successful in rebuilding the tree house?
