Mekaila and her aunt can't sleep, as they are worried about Country, so they stay up and watch T.V. for a couple hours. Then, Mekaila goes back to her bedroom and lays down and drifts off to sleep for a couple hours. She wakes up and sees that the sun is out, she looks at her clock and sees that it's 7:30. She quickly gets out bed, gets dressed, brushes her hair, and goes to the bathroom. Then, she races out of her room, down the hallway, and into the kitchen.

"Wow, slow down there." Her aunt says, flipping a waffle maker over.

"I can't, school starts at eight. Why didn't you wake me up?" Mekaila quickly grabs her shoes.

"Relax, I called the school and told them you wouldn't be in today, because of a family emergency." Her aunt places a waffle on top of a couple others.

"Oh, thank you." Mekaila sighs, "Country is our family."

"You're welcome, she sure is." She puts the plate of waffles on the table and grabs the orange juice out of the fridge, setting it on the table, too.

"Where's Cowgirl?" Mekaila asks, pouring herself a glass of orange juice.

"Out in the dog run, she was bored and antsy." She sits down beside Mekaila.

"I bet, have you heard from the vet yet?"

"Not yet, but I'm sure he'll call soon." Right as she's finishing her sentence, the phone rings, she jumps up, and answers it.

"Hello?" A pause.

"Yes, this is her." Another pause.

"Oh, great. Thank you so much."

"What time? Ten? Yeah, we'll be there."

"Okay, thank you so much once again." She hangs up.

"She's ok?" Mekaila asks.

"Yes, she made it through the surgery and is doing much better!" Mekaila and her aunt cheer and hug.

"We're going to get her at ten?"

"Yep."

"Awesome." Mekaila heads outside to see Cowgirl.

"Good morning, sweetie, how are you?" Lisa peeks in Codie's bedroom.

"Good morning, mom, I'm doing somewhat better. I still feel weak, but my legs are much better." Codie smiles.

"Well, that's good. Do you want to come downstairs for breakfast or have it in bed again?"

"I'll come down." Codie pets Buddy.

"Okay, take your time." She leaves, shutting the door behind her.

Codie climbs out of bed, goes to the bathroom, and then slowly heads downstairs, Buddy following her. Chris is at the bottom of the stairs, ready to assist if needed. Codie makes it down the stairs, but has to sit on the couch for a few minutes, before going into the kitchen.

"Alright, I've made scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and toast. Dig in, kiddos." Lisa sets out orange juice and grape juice.

With Chris and Lisa's help, Codie gets some eggs, a couple pieces of bacon, and a slice of toast. She also gets a glass of grape juice, with some help. She gobbles up her breakfast and then sits on the couch and watches T.V.

"Where's Clem?" She asks.

"She's outside, I'll let her in." Chris goes to the back door, opens it, and whistles.

Clementine comes running in, jumps on the couch, and licks Codie to death. Codie laughs and pets Clementine, right as she puts on her favorite channel, GSN. Clementine lays beside Codie, while Buddy lays on his doggie bed beside the couch. Sarah walks in and says hi to Codie and sits beside her.

"What are you doing home?" Codie is surprised, as Sarah is busy with a lot of clubs and activities, always on the move.

"Music group got cancelled, because our instructor is sick." She pulls her knees up to her chest and rests her chin on them.

"Oh, I see. How are all the other clubs and things you do going?" Codie wraps her arm around her little sister.

"Good, we are learning some new moves in ballet and I made a goal in soccer practice the other day."

"Nice! Give me five!" Codie hold up her hand and Sarah hits it, gently.

"Country!" Mekaila holds her arms open and the dog runs right into them, her butt and tail wiggling and wagging, licking Mekaila's hands and face. She then goes over to Mekaila's aunt and licks her, too.

"Here's her pain meds." The vet hands them to Mekaila's aunt.

"Okay." She grabs them from him.

"She'll definitely need them, and try to keep her away from your new puppy. I know that's going to be hard, but she needs to heal before she goes back to playing rough." He tells them.

"Got it, we'll do our best. Thank you so much once again, Dr. Morrison."

"Anytime, and I can't wait to see that new puppy." He waves, as they walk out the door, waving back.

When they arrive back at home, Cowgirl is barking and pawing at the gate of the dog run. Mekaila allows them to sniff through the fence, but keeps them separated. They take Country inside, adding soft blankets and pillows to her dog bed. They give her a little bit of canned dog food and water, setting them right by her dog bed. Country lays down on the bed, drinking some of the water. Outside, Cowgirl barks and howls, loudly, and Mekaila and her aunt both sigh.

"I'd better go play with her or take her on a run, back on the dirt roads and by the creeks." Mekaila pets Country.

"That's a great idea, I'll keep an eye on our patient." Mekailas' aunt sits down in her rocking chair, turning on the T.V.

Mekaila heads outside, grabbing Cowgirl's leash and lets her out of the dog run, putting the leash on. They walk down the street, until they reach the dirt road, then Mekaila takes off Cowgirl's leash and she runs off. Mekaila starts running, too, and she brings out Cowgirl's favorite toy, a tennis ball, and throws it. They play fetch with it for several hours before they tire out.

A/N: Well, there's another chapter. What did you think? Let me know! The picture is of Cowgirl and is from Google Images.
