Chapter 19

Emma runs over to Mekaila and Codie asking, "Codie, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be alright. I've got you, Mekaila, Parker, and Seth." Codie manages a small smile.

"That's right. Where are the boys...." Mekaila trails off, as Seth come walking up. "Well, there's one."

"Where's Parker?" Codie asks.

"Oh, he, um...." Emma trails off.

"What?" Codie asks, beggingly.

"He got sent to the principal's office. He and Shane got into a big fight." Seth quickly says.

"What?!!?" Codie panics.

"Wow, men, am I right?" Mekaila says, not surprised by what's happened.

"Let's go." Codie heads towards the office, Mekaila and Emma following.

Just then, the bell rings, signaling that lunch is over, and students start heading to their classes.

"We should probably get to class..." Emma starts, but Codie immediately starts shaking her head, "I have to see him."

"Codie, I'm sorry, but we have to get to class, otherwise we'll get in trouble. I'm sure Parker will be alright and you'll see him later." Mekaila tells her.

"Fine." Codie sighs and they all head to class, Mekaila and Codie going to the same class, while Emma and Seth go separate ways.

Finally, the final bell of the day rings and Codie almost jumps out of her seat, rushes out the door, and runs to the front office. She immediately sees Shane sitting in a chair outside of the principal's office, with an ice pack held to his head. He smirks at her, but she ignores him and goes up to the receptionist at the front desk. Just as she's about to ask her about Parker, he comes out of the principal's office. She runs over to him and throws her arms around him, like she hasn't see him in years, and he immediately wraps his arms around her tightly.

"Well, what's going on?" Codie asks him, as they pull away, tentatively.

"That doesn't matter, I'm just glad you're okay." He says, pulling her into another tight hug.

Mekaila, Seth, and Emma come into the office, followed by Austin, Tiffany, and Madison.

"Well, look what the cat drug in." Tiffany smirks at Codie.

Parker immediately steps in between them, blocking Tiffany from Codie. The principal immediately tells Tiffany and her gang to leave and they do.

"Leave her alone!" Parker calls after them, but they ignore him.

"Enough." Their principal says, and they all head out to the parking lot.

"I'm over here." Emma motions over to the other side of the parking lot.

"Okay, see you tomorrow." Mekaila tells her and she waves.

"Bye, Emma." Codie says.

"See ya." Say the guys.

"Wanna come over to my place? My parents aren't home right now and they are fine with me having friends over when they aren't there." Codie asks and says.

"Of course." Parker says, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"Sure." Mekaila and Seth both say, as they all get into the jeep.

"Want some snacks?" Codie asks, as they get in her house.

"Sure, what do you have?" Seth asks.

"Cheese sticks, fruit, goldfish, and gummies." Codie says.

"Goldfish." Seth says.

"Gummies please." Mekaila says.

"Parker?" Codie asks, but he's standing right next to her and says, "cheese stick please."

She grabs the snacks, as well as some juice boxes and brings them out into the living room. She turns on the T.V. as they sit on the long couch, Parker wrapping his arm around Codie's shoulder and Seth grabs Mekaila's hand.

"What do you want to watch?" Codie asks, as they munch on their snacks and drink their juice boxes.

"A movie." They all say in unison.

"Same." Codie says, going through the movie channels.

"How about Zookeeper?" Codie asks.

"That works."

"Perfect."

"Sounds good to me."

Codie turns it on and snuggles in closer to Parker, as does Mekaila with Seth. Just as they are getting in to the movie, there's a noise upstairs. Codie looks up the stairs, confused. Parker gives them the quiet signal with a finger to his lips and he motions for Seth to follow him. They quietly go up the stairs, when all of a sudden, a guy appears out of a room and startles them. 

"Who are you guys and what are you doing here?" Asks a familiar voice and, upon hearing it, Codie rushes up the stairs.

"Hi Chris!" Codie yells, as she jumps into his arms.

"Hi sis! I missed you!" He says, hugging her tightly.

"What are you doing here? Mom and dad didn't mention that you were coming back."

"Yeah, I wanted to surprise you. Did it work?"

"Yes! Best surprise ever!"

"Ah-hem." Parker says, and Codie laughs.

"Chris, this is my friend, Seth, and my boyfriend, Parker." Codie points to each of them and Chris shakes their hands.

"Hello?!!?" Mekaila calls from downstairs. "Kind of lonely down here!"

"Whoops, we are coming, Mekaila!" Codie shouts back down, as they all head back down.

"Parker, wait. We gotta talk." Chris says, stopping halfway down.

"Chris, seriously?" Codie gives him a look.

"Yes, I'm your brother." 

"Fine, but be nice please. He means a lot to me."

Chris just winks at her, as he and Parker head back upstairs.

"Codie, Chris, we are home!" Lisa and Steve call out, as they come in the front door.

Chris enters the kitchen, whispering to them to stay quiet, as they enter the living room, they find Codie laying on Parker, asleep. He waves at them and they wave back. Mekaila and Seth left a couple hours ago. It's almost seven o'clock and Parker has to go home soon, so Chris carefully picks Codie up off of him and takes her upstairs and into her bedroom and lays her down on her bed. She doesn't even stir at all, and Parker says goodbye to a sleeping Codie before heading out.

"So they are a thing?" Steve ask Chris in the living room. They are quietly watching T.V. together.

"Yeah, said you already approve of him." Chris says.

"I do, he seems like a good kid." Steve nods.

"He is, he punched a guy for her today at school. Said the guy and his friends were being rude to Codie and her friends."

"I already like him and now I like him even more." Steve says.

"Agreed." Lisa says.
