"My mom said I have to be home at five thirty for dinner." Codie tells Mekaila.
"Okay, we can play with the dogs until then. It's three thirty now, so we have two hours." Mekaila says.
"Yeah, how about we take the dogs on a walk?" Codie suggests.
"That's a great idea! I'll take Cowgirl and you can take Buddy, but I don't want to take Country cause she pulls."
"Okay, let's go!" Codie says, as she grabs Buddy's leash.
She opens the door and calls for Buddy and he comes running. She puts the leash on him and then Mekaila takes Country outside and puts her in the dog run. Country starts barking and whining as Mekaila walks away. Then, Mekaila and Codie take Cowgirl and Buddy on a walk together.

"Mom, I'm home!" Codie calls, as she walks in the front door.
She finds her parents sitting in the living room, crying and wiping their eyes with Kleenex. Codie notices that her brother isn't there.
"Mom, dad, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
Her mom grabs her and hugs her tightly and she starts trembling.
"Sweetie," her dad tells her, "we have some news to tell you. I don't know how to break this to you, but your brother is missing."
"What?" Codie starts crying.
Her parents hug her tightly and cry some more, too. Codie is devastated, as she and her brother are very close and she has no idea where he is.
"The police are on their way as are search and rescue crews." Her dad tells her, right as they hear sirens pulling into their driveway.
They talk with the police and search and rescue crews. They promise they'll look as hard as they can for Chris. They are using their best search and rescue dogs and their best police officers. They will search every day and will report back to them. Codie still doesn't know where her brother could be.
"Mom, dad, when was the last time you saw Chris?" Codie asks them.
"He left with his friends to go hang out at the skate park and said he would be home by five, but there was no sign of him at that time." Her mom tells her and the police who are taking notes.
"We figured he lost track of time and was still there, so I went there to look for him but there was absolutely no one at the skate park, not even his friends." Her father tells them.
"Okay, thanks for all the information, we'll go investigate at the skate park." The chief police officer says as he and the other officers start to leave.
"Thanks so much, please call as soon as you have anything at all about him." Her mom says.
"We will."

Later that night, the police calls them to tell them that they've found some clues at the skate park. They said they found a plaid jacket that was left behind, hidden by a tree. It seems someone was in a hurry to get away and they threw the jacket on the ground. They tell them they found some traces of truck tire tracks that they will analyze as best as they can and some blood and hair that they'll analyze too. They tell them they'll bring the jacket over in the morning to see if its Chris'. Then they hang up after saying good bye.Codie goes to bed that night, feeling very sad and lonely. Her brother and her are very close and he sometimes reads her a bedtime story at night or tells a spooky ghost story to her. Sometimes he'll even come in and watch a movie with her until one of them either falls asleep or the movie is over.
A/N: oh my goodness! Did I just throw a exciting but also sad plot twist at you? Yes I did! Please let me know what you think happened to Chris and please comment and vote if you liked this chapter. Thanks so much! Will try to update more often!
