Steve and Laura get home very late that night and Codie is already in bed, fast asleep. They both head into their bedroom and get ready for bed. However, Steve can't fall asleep so he goes into the living room and watches t.v. He keeps the volume down, though, so the girls get their rest.
The next morning, Codie immediately asks about Chris and her parents have concerned looks on their faces. Codie glances from her dad to her mom and back again several times.
"What's wrong?" Codie finally asks.
"Well, Chris um...." Laura begins.
"Chris is very upset and wants to come home." Steve finishes the sentence.
"Oh." Codie says, as a tear trickles down her cheek and her mom gives her a big hug and Steve joins in, it's one big group hug.
"Hey, I have an idea to take our minds off Chris. Let's go bowling!" Laura suggests.
"That sounds like fun, doesn't it, Codie?" Her dad asks her.
"Yeah, can Mekaila come with us please?" Codie asks.
"Sure, go ahead and call her."
"Okay, thank you!" Codie grabs her phone, as her parents head downstairs.
"Hey, Codie. What's up?" Mekaila answers on the fifth ring.
"Hey, we are going bowling and I was wondering if you wanted to come with."
"Oh, I'd love to, but I have plans. I'm so sorry, Codie."
"Oh, that's okay. See you at school on Monday." She hangs up.
"Dang it!" Codie yells at her wall.
Just then, her phone rings and she sees it's Parker and she immediately answers it.
"Hello!" She is very excited.
"Hey, Codie. What's up?"
"Not much, my parents and I are about to go bowling."
"Oh, cool I was just about to invite you to go to a movie with me, but bowling sounds a lot funner! I love bowling!"
"Oh, would you like to go with us, then? Mekaila can't go cause she has plans."
"Sure, I'd love to go!"
"Okay, awesome! We'll pick you up in ten minutes."
"Okay, I'll be ready."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye." They both hang up.
Codie hurries downstairs, her dogs following her close at her heels.

They pull up in front of Parker's house about ten minutes later. Codie rushes to the door, but Parker answers it before she can even knock. He gives her a big hug and she accepts it, hugging back. They get into her mom's car and they drive off. Her mom is the only one who drives the car cause it's hers.
"We're here!" Steve announces, about half an hour later.
"Yay!" Codie hops out, followed by Parker and her parents.
They get two lanes all to themselves and order a pizza for lunch. Codie gets a pretzel with cheese and Parker gets nachos. They start bowling and Laura is beating Steve, while Parker is beating Codie. However, this does get their minds off of Chris and Codie is laughing and smiling. After two games each and almost a whole pizza, they call it quits.
"So do you still want to go to a movie with me?" Parker asks Codie as they leave the bowling alley.
"Sure, if it's okay with my parents." Codie smiles.
"It's fine with us, as long as you're very careful." Her mom says.
"Yea, and don't get home later than eleven." Her dad finishes.
"Oh, Steve they can stay out until midnight." Laura insists.
"Fine." He shrugs
"So what movie are we going to see?" Codie asks, as they get back in the car and buckle up.
"Um, I don't know but we will decide later." Parker says.
"Okay, sounds good."
