About fifteen minutes later, Codie, Mekaila, and Parker arrive at a Pizza Hut. Parker gets out of his truck and the girls get out of the jeep. Just then, it starts to rain and Mekaila quickly puts the roof on her jeep so the inside doesn't get rained on. Codie laughs a little and stands out in the rain, letting the drops hit her. Mekaila joins her for a couple minutes and they're both laughing and trying to catch rain drops in their mouths.

"You know, that's not very healthy." Parker tells them and they look over at him.

"Says who?" Mekaila asks, in a funny voice, and both her and Codie are laughing.

"Well, says me." Parker says back in a manly voice, which makes Codie and Mekaila laugh even harder.

"Oh, no we're going to get sick and die, Mekaila." Codie says, mockingly.

"I didn't say you were going to get sick." Both girls look at him, still laughing a little, "Or die. Now, who wants some pizza? I'm starving." He goes into Pizza Hut and the girls follow him.

After they're done eating, they head back outside and notice it has stopped raining. Both girls say good-bye to Parker and head over to the jeep, while he heads over to his truck. While Mekaila is putting the roof back down, Codie goes over to Parker and tells him to wait a minute.

"Yea, what's up, Codie?" He asks.

"Is it okay if Mekaila goes running with us on Sunday?" Codie asks.

"Sure, that's fine."

"Great! Thanks! See you on Sunday!" She goes back over to Mekaila's jeep.

"See ya!" Parker gets into his truck and drives off.

"Hey, so what were you two talking about?" Mekaila asks, giggling a little.

"Oh, nothin', I just asked him if you could run with us on Sunday." Codie gives her a smirk.

"And? What did he say?"

"He said yes."

"Awesome!"

"Yeah, we get to spend three days in a row together."

"That's what besties do, now you'll have to give me directions to your house please."

"Of course. Can I bring my dog, Buddy, with, too? He doesn't like to be without me, especially at night."

"Yes, of course you can, my aunt and I love dogs. My aunt has a six-year-old Aussie, named Country, she's a real sweetheart. I finally get my own dog; I'm so happy and excited."

"Great!" Codie says, as she starts giving Mekaila directions to her house.

About fifteen minutes later, they arrive at Codie's house and she rushes inside, saying she'll be back as soon as she can. Once inside, she says hi to her parents and brother. Then, she rushes upstairs and goes into her room and gets her overnight bag and puts her clothes and pajamas in it. She grabs her toothbrush and hair brush and puts them in there, too. Last, she packs Buddy's extra leash, treats, and bowls. She grabs his leash and whistles; she hears him come in through the doggie door and come running up the stairs. He stops right at her feet, panting and wagging his tail.

"Hi, Buddy! Ready to go?" Codie greets her dog and starts petting him and then puts the leash on him.

She grabs her bag and the leash and they both head downstairs. She says good-bye to her parents, but doesn't see her brother and wonders where he is. Her mom questions her about taking Buddy with and she reassures her mom that Mekaila's aunt is fine with it. Plus, she tells her mom it will be better this way and Buddy won't keep them up all night with his whining. Her mom gives her a hug and a kiss and tells her to be on her best behavior. Codie promises she will and rushes out the door. She and Buddy hop into Mekaila's jeep and they take off. Buddy rushes over to say hi to Mekaila and licks her face, which makes her giggle.
