Wherever you just finished reading the Harry Potter series or you've read it a while ago, I made a list of a few things that you might consider doing if you still love Harry Potter. But if you've done them all or can't do some, it's okay! Some of them you can do forever.
• Reread the books duh! That's the most obvious one.
• (Re)watch the movies.
• Get involved in the Harry Potter community. From checking Pottermore, talking to other fans on forums, following fandom/ real accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr
• Figure out your Patronus, house, boggart, OTPs, favourite book, favourite movie, least favourite movie, favourite character, etc.
• Quiz your knowledge. There are many sites with trivia, hard and easy, where you can test your knowledge of the books and movies
•Read fanfiction! I know two sites that have great fanfics: Wattpad and fanfiction.net. I prefer Wattpad, but also read a few fanfics on fanfiction.net. Some great fanfics on Wattpad include:
- all the books by kmbell92
- Meeting the Marauders, Knowing the Marauders, Dealing with the Marauders by silentbynature. The third book in the series is unfinished and the author doesn't seem to be updating chapters anymore, but it's still great to read the books.
-The Girl in the Mask by maskedstargazer
There's also a tons more great fanfics, but these listed are a must read. On the other hand, on fanfiction.net I only started reading Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality and it's a great fanfic. I'm also planning to read more.• Write fanfiction! Yeah, it's obvious, but it's also so cool! You can write the story as you want it to be.
• Buy merchandise. But if you don't have the money or you don't wanna waste it to buy stuff like that, you can make your own! It's fun!
• Go to Harry Potter events/ conventions like LeakyCon, or if you don't have the time, money or it's too far away, you can create your own like: Harry Potter parties, Harry Potter clubs (where you discuss Harry Potter), etc.
• Did I mention rereading the books?
• Discuss it with your friends, but if they haven't read Harry Potter, force them to do it. (JK. Don't force them. Just ask them to read it.)
• Visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or just daydream about it if you can't go.
• Make your own wand from a piece if stick and pretend to be magical.
• Quote Harry Potter everywhere and make Harry Potter references until it gets annoying.
• Make Harry Potter goodies! There are many recipes for Butterbeer, Cauldron Cakes, chocolate frogs, etc.
• Read books from the Harry Potter universe: Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
• Be on the lookout for anything Harry Potter in your neighbourhood. Meet ups, parties, other Potterheads.
• Celebrate special Harry Potter dates. Character birthdays, Historical events, the days when the books were published or the movies released.
• Go onto Tumblr and Pinterest to read Canons, OneShots and cry or laugh over them , fun facts, look at drawings.
• Become a know-it-all Potterhead. Be ready to answer any given questions. Even the small details like the page in the UK edition of the book on which Sirius Black fell through the veil is the same number as his vault number. 711.
• Embrace your obsession. Wear Harry Potter shirts, scarves, dresses, necklaces, pins, bags, bracelets, rings, earrings, etc.
• Learn to knit. Although it will never be as cool as the knitted clothes made by Ellie in Tightly Knit, it might be a cool Christmas present or just a cool way to make house scarves when you can finally knit freely.
• Go to a muggle Quidditch game or play muggle Quidditch with your friends. Muggle Quidditch actually exists.
• Did I already say, reread the books?
• And last of all, be proud. Be proud of being a Potterhead, because it's amazing.
Now enjoy your Potterhead life! It's full of tears, joy, excitement, disappointment, new friends.
Tell me if I misses anything else you can do after Harry Potter!
All was well,
Ria
