SHOT 41: The Girls Close to His Heart

ALTO'S POV

Noong nagproseso na sa utak ko ang sinabi sakin ni Aaron, agad akong tumayo at lumabas ng opisina. Napansin ko pang papasok sina Sofia at Issa sa office nina Cynth.

"Oy Alto. Nagmamadali lang?"

Saglit akong tumigil. With an expectant but tensed look, I asked her not minding her question, "May kasama ka ba nung pumunta dito?"

"Wala. Bakit?" maang niyang tugon pagkatapos umiling.

"Ah. Okay."

Dumeretso ako sa elevator. Nagkataon lang siguro na ang dalawang babae mula sa aming pamilya ay nandito ngayon sa Branch Office.

Si Mama, isa sa mga directors ng company na ito. Nasabi ko na dati na ilang beses din siyang na-promote, and now she was one of the top executives. Kahanga-hanga siyang tao kaya I respected and idolized her a lot for that.

Atubili ko pang itinulak ang pinto ng Conference Room kung saan daw siya naghihintay. With confusion written over my face, I emerged into the room. Agad ko siyang napansin at lumingon siya sakin. Mag-isa lang siya sa silid at nakaupo sa upuan malapit sa kanto ng conference table, when she stood up at sinalubong ako na papalapit sa kanya.

"Ma." I smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.

"Son." She smiled back.

I was really confused on why she was here. Normally, kung may sasabihin siya sakin during work hours, she would only call me on the phone. Ngunit ngayon ay pinuntahan niya ako.

CYNTHIA'S POV

The clock ticked when I heard a couple of knocks on the door. Maingat itong bumukas nang ipinakita ni Clarissa ang sarili. But to my surprise, she was not alone—there was an unfamiliar girl with her. I focused my curious eyes on her. Isang babae in blonde, shoulder-length hair, full lips in pink, side bangs that almost covered her left eye, wearing a short-sleeved, blue dress with asymmetrical skirt. May hawak din siyang paper bag and a small clutch bag.

Whoa. Inpeyrnes maganda siya. Nakakatomboy. I wondered who she was and why she was here. Friend ni Denise? Or ni Carl? Baka naman ni Vince?

Then she finally introduced herself. "Morning! Ako nga pala ang kapatid ni Alto. Gusto ko sanang mag-share ng cupcakes kaya ako nandito," magiliw na bati nung kasama ni Clarissa.

"Kapatid ka ni Alto?" pag-ulit ni Carl with an amused face. He cocked his neck at Clarissa who smiled at him. Witwiw! Nagngitian lang silang dalawa eh kinikilig na agad ako ah!

"Pramis guys! Masarap yung dala niyang cupcakes!" masayang wika ni Clarissa.

The girl glanced around the office like she was looking for something, or someone, when her gaze stopped at me. Her smile widened as she approached the front of my desk. "Cynth!"

I jolted up at her sudden enthusiasm. Kilala niya ako?! Saka ko lang naalala ang pakilala niya sa kanyang sarili kanina—kapatid siya ni Alto. She even baked cookies before. I believed this one here was that very person. And she knew how I looked. Hindi ko ito inexpect.

"Uhm ... Hi," medyo atubili kong wika. "Ikaw si Sofia, right?" I smiled at her. I remembered Alto saying his sister's name.

I thought she was going to be delighted by the sound of her name but instead, she frowned. "Sophie nalang ang itawag mo sakin, Cynth. Haaays. Si Alto kasi eh. Sofia talaga ang first name ko pero mas trip ko yung Sophie." Then she shifted into a more cheerful mood. "Anyways. Eto oh! Red velvet cupcake!"
