"Hey guys" Liana smiled as Matt and Sapphire sat beside her on the bus. It was a rainy, glum, Monday morning and Liana really couldn't be bothered with school.
"Sup" Matt replied. Sapphire seemed to be busy with her phone and smiling crazily.
"What are you so happy about? It's Monday" Liana laughed at Sapphire. She looked up from her phone.
"Oh nothing. I'm just texting a friend" She replied. Liana glanced at Matt and he shrugged his shoulders. Liana let it slide and changed the subject.
"How were your parents when you got home after the party? Did they go crazy?" She asked them. Sapphire began to speak but her phone lit up so she turned attention to it again. Matt sighed and told her instead.
"I told them we just stayed over at Donn's and they were fine with it. What about yours?" Matt asked. Liana freaked out slightly at the mention of her parents. She quickly came up with a random story.
"I told mine that I stayed at yours over night" She nervously laughed. The truth was that Colton had got home before her parents had and when they got home he told them Liana was at a friends house working on a school project.
"Yay we have arrived at prison!" Matt said sarcastically, changing the subject. Liana groaned as the bus came to a stop and the school came into veiw.
                                  ***
"Good morning class. I thought that today we would do some orienteering" Mr Owen smiled. This can't be too bad Liana thought to herself.
"And Mr Simpson's class will be joining us!" He added.
Sapphire looked over at Liana with a smile. This meant Matt would be with them! Mr Owen led the two classes outside and onto one of the school's large feilds. The rain had stopped but it was still pretty horrible outside.
"Okay guys get into groups of three" Mr Owen instructed. Liana turned and looked for Matt. She spotted him wildly looking around and ran up to him, grabbing his arm.
"Where's Saph?" He asked. The two searched the crowd of teenagers for their light haired friend.
"There she is!" Liana pointed across the feild. Sapphire already seemed to be in a group with 2 others.
"Oh..." Matt mumbled. Who was she with? Liana shrugged it off as Donn aproached them.
"Hey guys! Need a third member?" He asked with a smile. Matt tensed up and blushed slightly at the sight of Donn. Liana was pretty good at reading emotions and she guessed something had happened between them.
"Hi Donn. Yeah we have an open space" Matt winked. Liana laughed and rolled her eyes. Typical Matt. Soon enough every one had a map and some questions. They needed to go to the places on the map of the school and answer questions about that place. The trio decided to do the questions backwards and start with the last one. This way they wouldn't be going with the crowd. The last question was number 10 so they followed the map to where the ten was. This took them the big oak tree at the front of the school.
"Okay so the question is, Estimate how tall the tree is" Donn read out loud. All Liana knew was that the tree was tall and old.
"Um... how tall are you Donn?" She asked.
"About 5'9 why?" He replied. Liana glanced back up the tree. If Donn was basically 6 foot, the tree must be about 18 feet because it was around three 'Donns'.
"Put 18 feet. It's about three of you" She told Donn. He smiled at her way of working it out and wrote down the answer. The two then looked at the map and worked out where to go next. Whilst Liana and Donn had been doing the work, Matt had climbed up to a large branch on the tree. He sat there chewing gum and swinging his legs.
"Come on Matt we've got to answer these questions"Liana laughed. Matt groaned.
"Do we have to?" He asked.
"Yes" She smiled back. Matt groaned again and leaped of the tree, landing on the grass. The three of them walked across to the other side of the school.
"Hey thanks for helping to clean my house after the party" Donn told them.
"No problem man. It was a great party by the way" Matt replied. Donn's face lit up.
"It was pretty cool. We have to do it again soon" He smiled. Liana squeezed between them and into the middle of the trio.
"Come on you two. I'd prefer it if we didn't get detention" She laughed. They worked through the questions quickly and ended up finishing with about ten minutes to spare. They headed back to the oak tree and Matt easily climbed back up to the large branch.
"Its not that hard Lian" Matt laughed as Liana struggled to climb up the tree. She ended up back on the ground again. Even Donn was grinning at her. Eventually Matt leaned down and offered his hand to help her up. Liana gave up and placed hand in Matt's, making her heart miss a beat. She frowned at herself but ignored it. He pulled her arm as she scrambled up the tree. Liana made it up and sat beside Matt. Donn then made it up the tree with ease.
"Maybe we could go to the beach soon? You know, like us three and Sapphire?" Donn suggested.
"That sounds good. I'd definitely go" Liana smiled. Matt nodded his head.
"I'm sure Saph would come too" He said. A girl then ran towards them.
"Guys, um, we need to go to next lesson" she told them. Liana nodded. Yay.
