Chapter 18 - Ugh, ruined by the populars.

//Sapphire's POV\\

Sapphire paddled over to Liana and Matt.
"Calm down, love birds" She spat, shooting a grin at Matt. He blushed slightly, glaring daggers at her before rolling his eyes.. Sapphire decided to quickly change the subject.
"I've not been in the sea in such a long time!" She exclaimed.
"Same here" Liana chuckled.
All of a sudden there was a big splash of water against Liana and Sapphire's back.
"Agh, what on earth was that?" The two of them screamed. Sapphire and Liana turned around to find Donn laughing as Matt emerged from under the water, with his normally goofy smile.
"Sorry guys but Donn dared me to," Matt chuckled. Donn scooped his hands under the water and thrusted it towards Matt. Matt spluttered in disgust because the salty water had got into his mouth.
"What was that for?" Matt exclaimed. Matt swiped away his wet fringe from his eyes and splashed Donn back. Sapphire and Liana stepped back and laughed as they watched the pair splash each other continuously.
"Ok then, break it up ladies," Liana laughed while butting into the water fight. "Stop the nonsense. Why don't we try and get over to that rock?"
"That rock out there!?" Sapphire exclaimed. "Are you crazy?"
"Oh come on Saph!" Donn and Matt said in synchronisation. "That ain't far,"
"Guys, it is quite far" Sapphire told them nervously "And I'm not the strongest swimmer either"
"You'll be fine" Liana replied while dragging her by the wrist "I'm still pretty scared of water, that's why you're all taking me there" She smirked.

The group had been swimming for some time now and had gone quite far out, Sapphire had began to be nervous as the current was forming.
"Uh..guys the currents getting strong dont you think?" Sapphire said nervously. Liana seemed pretty nervous too. She was doing okay with the swimming part; thanks to the help of Matt.
"Chill Saph, it's alright" Donn smiled "We're almost there!" He added whilst pointing towards the large rock. Sapphire sighed and began to swim again. The sea floor was far below them and the water was freezing cold. It was actually quite refreshing after the blistering heat of the sun.
Eventually the small group reached the dark rock and they all climbed onto it.
"Wow we did actually swim quite far," Matt realized as they all looked back at the beach.
"I used to come out here with my brother a lot" Donn told them as he sat down. Sapphire followed him and sat down. She jumped slightly at the heat of the rock. The sun really was powerful.
"I actually haven't been to this beach before" Liana admitted.
"Really?" Donn asked, surprised. Liana nodded and sat beside Sapphire, and Matt sat beside Donn. Sapphire smiled at the thought of all her friends being together again. If only Evan could be here. Sapphire shook the thought out of her heard and frowned. What was she thinking?!
"Ugh look at all this rubbish" Liana mumbled with a disgusted look on her face. Sapphire glanced down at the water to see a few empty bottles and crisp packets floating around.
"How about a good old game of spin the bottle?" Matt smirked.
"Good idea," Donn smiled whilst dropping into the water again. He swam over and grabbed the nearest bottle before returning again. The group sat in a circle and placed the bottle between them.
"Who will be the first to get a job?" Liana asked, spinning the bottle. It spins around, and eventually landed on Donn.
"Well I am the oldest," He laughed.
"Okay so who will live the longest?" Sapphire asked. The bottle did its job and landed on Sapphire herself.
"Well I'm not complaining about that" She laughed. Everyone then seemed to hesitate, waiting for someone to think of something. Matt was the first one to grab the bottle.
"Who will be the first one to be in a relationship?" He asked with a smirk. Typical Matt. He always tends to find a way to add love to a subject. As the bottle spins, he glanced at Donn and their eyes met. Matt then blushed slightly and turned his attention back to the bottle, sniffing and pretending nothing happened. Sapphire raised an eyebrow. Something had definitely happened between those too. Maybe... At the party. Sapphire just brushed it off, shaking her head. The bottle finally stopped between Sapphire and Liana.
"Yeah I think that's pointing to you Saph," Liana laughed. Sapphire felt her heart beat quicken and her cheeks turn pink.
"Ooh Saph who have you got a crush on?" Matt teased whilst nudging her arm with his elbow.
"No one! Let's just carry on playing" She grumbled. Donn grabbed the bottle next.
"Whoever it lands on has to do a front flip into the water" He said. It went around, and then landed on Donn himself.
"Show us how it's done then" Liana chuckled with a grin, folding her arms. Donn glanced at her before standing up and walking to the edge of the rock. He quickly ran his hand through his drying turqoise hair.
"Okay then. Watch this!" He smirked before leaping off the edge. He tucked his knees into his body and flipped perfectly in the air before landing in the water with a small splash.
"Impressive" Sapphire told him in surprise, raising an eyebrow. Donn smiled and swam back to the rock. Before climbing back out of the water, he stopped at the edge of the rock and seemed to look at something. Matt headed over and bent down to look at it.
"What is it?" He asked. Donn didn't reply, he just grabbed Matt's arm and pulled him into the water. A big splash sprayed over the girls and and Donn burst out laughing. Matt surfaced again, his wet hair in his face.
"Hey! That's not fair" He grumbled, splashing Donn back and giggling. Sapphire and Liana were laughing so much that they didn't notice the figure behind them.
"Well well well. Look what we have here" A voice cut through the laughter; they simply had to use a cheesy movie phrase, didn't they? Sapphire and Liana quickly turned around and shot to their feet at the sight. Chris and his gang had snuck around the other side of the rock and had climbed on behind them. Donn and Matt quickly joined the girls and stood beside them.
"What do you want Chris?" Donn asked sternly. Chris pretended to look hurt by Donn's words.
"Don't you want to see your bestfriend?" He asked with a sad face.
"You are not my best friend Chris just leave us alone," Donn told him.
"Donn do you really want to ditch us, the most popular group in school where girls drool over us and other guys would do anything to be with us, for these three loosers?" Chris sneered as he mention the three friends. "Let's see... McWeirdo," he said, pointing at Matt. The curly haired brunette folded his hands and laughed at the pathetic name Chris gave him. Chris ignored it, pointing at Sapphire. "Shy guy," his finger moved to Liana as sapphire blushed in anger. "...and the hot nerd," Snorting, Chris put his hands on his hips.
"I'd rather have no friends than stay in your group Chris just go"
"Oh mate you've made a big mistake. You and puny friends better watch your backs" He threatened. Donn turned to face his friends and his face looked pretty annoyed. Matt clenched his fist, gritting his teeth together.
"Look... Uh... Crusty Chris!" He furrowed his eyebrows. "If you're not going to leave us alone, I'll... I'll-!" He began to stutter. Chris laughed.
"You'll what? Attack us with your noodle arms?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Look, McWeirdo, the next time you mess with us you'll have two missing teeth in that dumb smile you have. No wonder why your parents abused you." Chris smirked.
Matt looked like he was about to lash out and attack Chris, but he obviously held back. Sapphire put a hand on his shoulder.
"Come on guys let's go" Donn said whilst grabbing Liana's arm, ignoring Chris. He helped her into the water and Matt joined them, looking back at Chris every do often. Donn began to help Liana swim back to the beach. Sapphire stole a glance at Chris and his group. They were pretty tough guys and she hoped that they would leave them alone. What had happened between Donn and them? Sapphire frowned at herself before getting back into the cold, clear water and catching up with her friends.
Wow. What a great way to end a trip to the beach.
