Chapter 24 - First day back of school- did NOT go as planned.

//Liana's POV\\

Liana and Colton drove back home in silence after she had been to see Matt. She felt a lot better knowing that Matt was going to come back to school soon. She had to admit that school was pretty boring without him. Especially since Sapphire was always with Evan now. Knowing about Matt's parents made the secrecy of her parents seem worse. The weight on her shoulders felt even heavier after meeting Matt's parents. Maybe she should tell her friends about her life? She was scared that they would treat her differently but after all this time they deserved to know. But maybe telling them would make Matt feel worse..Liana thought to herself. But then she realised that he could come and play video games with her which would definitely make him happy. She was just torn between keeping secrets and not ruining anything and telling them and risking making everyone feel bad....You know what I'm just gonna tell them...

*The next day*

Liana shuffled nervously in her seat as the bus pulled up at the final bus stop. Like normal, Sapphire walked down the aisle and took her seat beside Liana and for a second it looked like Matt wasn't coming in but his curly face and goofy smile came striding down the bus. Seeing him smile was enough to make her forget her nerves.
"Mornin' Li" He said as he sat down.
"Its nice to see you decided to come" She smiled back. Matt gave an awkward laugh in reply. Liana turned her attention to Sapphire who, as usual, was smiling at her phone.
"So how was Evan this weekend?" Liana smirked as she elbowed Sapphire jokingly.
"Good I guess.." She mumbled with a blush. There was definitely something going on between the two of them. They were pretty bad at hiding it; Well Sapphire was. Liana hadn't really spoke with Evan much. The bus ride was short and before long it was lunch break. Liana, Matt, Donn and Sapphire met up and chose an empty table to sit at in the cafeteria.
"Man, I hate Miss Roberts so much" Sapphire grumbled as she slammed down her drink on the table.
"Don't we all? She can't expect us to come up with an entire script in 10 seconds" Donn complained. The two of them continued to talk about school but Liana just stared out the window, and Matt sat down with his hood up because he wasn't in the same class as them, he wasn't in the top set... Hence not having 'Miss Roberts.' Liana was having a mini war with herself still. Should she tell them? They might be angry at her for not trusting them before but if she didn't tell them they wouldn't be angry..but if they found out later they'd be even angrier..
"Liana, are you okay?" Sapphire waved her hand in her face to gain her attention.
"What? Yeah I'm fine" she put a smile on her face.
"Why are you being so quiet?"
"Oh I was just daydreaming" She lied.
"About me?" Matt joked with a smirk.
"Of course" Liana played along and everyone giggled. The happiness didn't last long as out of no where, a bottle of water was raining down over Matt. There was only one person who would be so pathetic; Chris.
"Oops sorry looser. Didn't see you there" He sniggered. The rest of his group laughed along with him. Matt's curly hair was soaked along with his shoulders and back. Matt took his hood down, his eyebrow twitching as he glared daggers at Chris. He breathed through his scrunched-up nose loudly, turning away and pretending nothing happened.
"Chris, clear off!" Donn glared at him from across the table.
"You can't make me Donn. You had your chance" Chris told him.
"Oh yeah?" Donn threatend as he got to his feet and grabbed the nearest object; Sapphires bottle. Liana felt panic flow through her along with unwanted adrenaline.
"Come on then looser give us your best shot" Chris smirked.
"Donn don't. He's not worth it" Liana tried to tell him.
"Quiet, angelcake. I want to see how much of a baby he is" Chris wasnt letting this go. Donn's anger grew and he threw the bottle perfectly and hit Chris square in the face. This annoyed Chris who threw himself towards Donn with his fists flying. Matt was ready though and stuck his foot out causing Chris to fall over. The crowd that had gathered burst into laughter. Now it was Liana and Sapphire's turn to get to their feet.
"Let's just go" Liana told them but Donn still looked pretty angry. Chris was back on his feet and preparing to fight. He now seemed more angry with Donn than with Matt. He shot towards Donn again but Liana was in the way. Matt grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him, out of the way of Chris' fists. Liana couldn't see what happened but the crowd was chearing and Sapphire was yelling at them to stop. Liana turned back around to see three teachers stood between them and Chris' friends holding him back. Donn's hair was stuck up everywhere and Chris had a bloody nose. It only looked like a few punches were landed before the teachers stopped them.
"Just you wait. Next time there won't be any teachers to save you Donn. You better be watching" Chris warned cheesily, like an evil cartoon character. He then turned to Matt. "And you. This is all your fault, curly fry freak. I'm coming for you". Matt stood straighter and glared at him. The teachers took Chris, Donn and Matt away for the remainder of the day, trying to figure out what happened. Liana was still trying to figure out what happened. Couldn't Chris just leave Matt alone? It was nice to see Donn stick up for him though. Liana felt annoyed she didn't stop the fight from happening but no one could stop Chris when he was angry. The entire thing made her feel awful; The only non-horrible part of the experience was when Matt pulled her out of the way. Liana wasn't so sure why that part made her want to smile but she couldn't help it. Matt had fairly fast reflexes to get her out of the way so quickly. She'd have to thank him later.
"So much for Matt's first day back huh?" Sapphire muttered.
"It didn't go as well as it could have" Liana agreed. Her friends would have to wait to find out about her secret.
