// Donn's POV \\
Donn tossed his bag on the floor next to his seat. The girl in the seat next to him shuffled uncomfortably as Donn sat down in his seat. He got out his English book and the girl next to him looked at it, almost horrified. It was covered in doodles and black marker, torn in many places too from his friends. What was wrong with that?
"Sapphire, do you mind handing out the books please?" Miss Ozanne asked, though it sounded more like an order. A girl with white hair and aqua eyes nodded obediently and stood up from her seat. She walked past Donn to get to the back of the class and get the Macbeth books, because that was what the class was studying. She was kind of pretty. Whilst the books were being handed out, Donn started to swing on his chair absent-mindedly.
"So... What's your name?" Donn asked the girl next to him in a quiet whisper. He didn't care about it much, he just wanted to break the silence between them.
"Oh um, Liana." She replied.
"Cool." Donn stopped swinging on his chair and groaned. He looked at the girl who had finished handing the books out, and had now returned to her seat. "Who's she?"
"That's Sapphire, Saph for short. She's my best friend" Liana explained.
"Mhm" Donn said as he opened the Macbeth script book. He took one look at the words and groaned. Silver'd? Thou? How were you even supposed to fit those into a logical sentence? The turquoise haired boy groaned again. It would be a long lesson. Then he spotted Liana whispering to Sapphire.
"You meeting Matt and I in the park today?" She asked her, being careful to keep her voice down. Who was Matt?
"Yeah, I think so." Sapphire whisper agreed. "Depends on homework though"
Wait, they actually did their homework? Strange human beings. Donn shook his head and smiled to himself.
"What are you smiling about?" Liana questioned him almost accusingly.
"The fact that you actually do homework" he explained. The two girls looked at each other.
"You don't do your homework?" Sapphire piped up.
"Ha! No, at least not in time... why should I? I already do six and a half hours of it." Donn pointed out. "I heard you were hanging out in the park later, mind if I tag along?" The two girls glanced at each other. Saph opened her mouth to say what Donn would take as a no but Liana beat her to it.
"Sure, why not?" She said. They then stopped talking to pay attention to the lesson. Well, the two girls did. Donn spent the lesson poking Liana subtly, trying to annoy her without the teacher noticing. When Miss Ozanne had her back to the class, a paper airplane landed on Donn's desk. Donn snatched it before Miss Ozanne turned around and opened it under his desk, reading what it said.
Stop flirting, we can all see you
He rolled his eyes and wrote a reply. Miss Ozanne turned to write something else on the board and Donn threw it back at Chris, the person who threw it at him. He watched him as he opened and read the letter, blushing more and more as he read it. His mates tried to take it to see what was written on it, but he wouldn't let them. Donn smirked as he remembered what he wrote on the paper.
You can't say much, we all know you're head over heels for Cassidy.
"What are you so impressed about?" Liana asked me.
"Nothing much." The turquoise haired boy almost laughed as he remembered Chris' reaction as he opened the letter. He soon resumed poking and jabbing Liana and she groaned. They continued this cycle until the bell rang.***
Donn grabbed a strawberry milkshake and a muffin and walked to the canteen seating area. On one table he saw the 'popular girls'. Now, seeing as he was popular, these girls should be the ones he was interested in. Except he wasn't. He never liked the way they stood just to make their butts look bigger, or the way they plastered their face in make-up {A/N: don't take this offensively. If you wear make-up, great! Wear it if you want, but just personally don't like make-up. No offense to anyone, please ;-; also please don't kill me because just say all 'popular' kids wear make-up... just don't take anything offensively pleaseeeee}. Whilst the other boys were off trying to get girlfriends out of them, Donn stood there and watched them fail. He saw Chris and the squad sitting down in one of the separated off room alcove things with the spinning chairs. No-one knew what they were called, but they were often called cubicles. He sat down on a spinning stool and was attacked with random squad jokes and ideas. By the end of break, Donn had already floored several of them, several times. The group went to their lessons, seeing as they all had different lessons from Donn. He saw Sapphire sitting down with Liana and began to approach awkwardly. He couldn't look like he was flirting, but he couldn't look like he was a social mess.
"Umm hey, Sapphire?"
"Yes?" She looked up from the cookie she was eating. She didn't seem to pay attention to the fact that Donn knew her name without question.
"Can I walk with you and Liana to third lesson?..." Donn asked, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. Another reason he stayed away from the 'popular' girls: he always messed up around girls. He could not function properly if there was a girl near or next to him, because they made him feel awkward....
"Sure" she replied.
"You get to meet Matt too! He's in detention this break... So you can't meet him now." Liana exclaimed.
"Mhm..." Donn's gaze wandered to the floor, where he saw what Liana wore on her feet. "Hey, aren't those Nike Air running trainers?" He asked. Liana looked terrified. She shook her head desperately.
"No, no of course not! My family lives in town and those shoes cost by dress, and we don't have that money...." She threw out excuses left right and centre. He looked back at her shoes. Those were definitely Nikes with the logo scribbled out in permanent marker. Then the bell rang. The two girls grabbed their bags and started walking to art class. Donn walked with them until they reached the art class. As soon as he got in, he noticed a boy with curly brown hair swinging on his hair and chewing gum loudly. He sat down on a four seat table. On one side, Liana sat next to Donn and in the other, Sapphire sat opposite Donn, while the brown haired boy sat down opposite Liana. Donn felt the brown haired boy, who must be Matt, stare at him, but he was too busy with hooking his foot through his bag handle and rubbing at the logo on Liana's shoes. She was too busy paying attention to the teacher to notice. He kept rubbing at the logo until most of the marker had finally come off. And it was definitely a pair of Nikes.
'My parents don't have the money for that' he repeated what Liana said in his mind, snorting.Hello! It is Branwen. I will be writing in Donn's POV throughout this series. Hope you enjoy my chapters!
