// Liana's POV \\

"Do you guys know about the Masqurade ball the school is hosting at New Years?" Liana asked her friends as they sat round the table to eat their lunch. It was a cold, winter morning after a fun weekend of gaming with Matt at her house. It felt weird having Matt in her house after all this time but thankfully her friends took her secret well and didn't treat her any different so far.
"A Masqurade ball?" Donn asked her with a 'really?' kind of look.
"Yeah there are posters all around the school about it. I think it's going to be huge and posh with expensive dresses and an orchestra" She explained to them. The school had never done anything like this but it sounded fun so she decided to mention it.
"Is every one going to it?"
"I think so. Come on it'll be fun" She tried to convince them.
"I think we should go" Matt agreed. Liana smiled and looked at the other two for their opinions.
"I'm up for it" Sapphire added.
"But I don't have anything to wear" Donn pointed out. Now that Liana thought about it, neither did she.
"Ooh! Shopping!" Sapphire squealed.
"Shotgun going with Liana!" Matt told them. Liana felt her heart skip a beat as he said it. "Because she's rich.." he added after.
"No it has to be girls and boys going together. That way, when we have our masks on, we won't know if we're dancing with one of you" Sapphire explained with a smirk.
"That's true...alright, let's do it" Donn decided. Excitement flooded through Liana as she thought about it.
"How about we go shopping tonight? There's not long left" She asked.
"Sounds good" they all agreed.

*A few days later*

"Come on Liana!" Sapphire hurried as she pulled Liana through the busy street. They had taken the bus to the nearest city and were flying round the shops. So far neither of them had found anything. Sapphire pulled Liana to a hault and pointed to a shop across the street; 'Piper's Fashion And Dress Boutique'.
"That one looks promising" Liana nodded as they entered the shop. They were greeted by a warm and fairly quiet room, with a woman sat behind a desk.
"Hello ladies, how can I help you?" She asked with a smile.
"We're looking for dresses to wear to the Spring Valley Academy Masqurade ball" Liana explained.
"Oh yes we've had a few looking for dresses for it. Come right this way" She led the two girls through a door and into a big room full of gorgeous dresses.
"I'll be at the front if you need me" she turned and left again.
"Look at them all! How are we gonna choose?" Sapphire looked as happy as a child in a sweet shop. She was already flying up and down the ilses, brushing her hands across them. Liana smiled at her friends excitement and joined her. They tried on dozens of dresses and Sapphire loved them all. After facing a tough decision of blue or purple, she settled with a beautiful baby blue dress. It was strapless and flowed to the floor, covered in silver sequins. It has a slight poof on it, making look like a small ball gown. However, Liana still had no idea. She hated dresses anyway and there was so much choice.
"You could have anything in this entire shop Liana, money isn't a problem for you. How about this?" Sapphire pulled out a beautiful purple ball gown. It looked like something out of a movie.
"It's pretty but way too over the top. It's a school dance Saph not a fairytale" Liana laughed.
"Whatever, I think you'd look great in it" She mumbled as she put it back. They continued on untill they reached the very last ilse, at the back of the room. These dresses seemed to be a lot more posh and 'model like'. Liana's mother would definitely try to convince her to wear one of these.
"This one?" Sapphire was holding a drop dead gorgeous, black, flowing dress. Liana fell in love with it. Yet still...
"Isn't black a bit too dark for a masquarde ball?" She asked.
"You're so negative Liana, gosh" Sapphire smirked and placed the dress back. Liana sighed and glanced around the ilse a final time untill her attention was grabbed by a dress. It was a stunning red, nearly maroon coulourd dress that had a beautiful courset. It had a perfect size poof and looked like something a model would wear. She grabbed it and turned to face Sapphire.
"It's perfect!" She squealed and raced forward to touch it. Liana was now certain that this was the dress. They tried them on before paying and leaving the shop. Next up, masks. The two girls began walking through the busy street again.
"Oh God I just remembered" Liana said aloud.
"What?"
"It's a new years ball. It's traditional to kiss at midnight" Liana explained and glanced at Sapphire. Liana had never kissed anyone before...

// Matt's POV \\
Matt skipped ahead of Donn, swinging his arms enthusiastically. Donn simply walked behind him like a disappointed mother.
The two of them looked around, Matt constantly getting distracted by the many video game stores he walked past. "Liana could afford that." He would tell himself whenever he saw an expensive item in the window. Eventually, Donn stopped in his tracks.
"That one. It's perfect." He grinned, pointing at a store with a giant sign reading 'Simon's Luxuries.' Donn grabbed Matt's hand and pulled him away from a video game window, tugging him into the store. Shivers went up Matt's spine as Donn grabbed his hand, and his smile seemed to grow wider. Matt nodded, as if accepting the fact that Donn was pulling him. Donn opened the door, a bell at the top making a tinkling noise as he did so.
As soon as they walked in, they were greeted by a person that obviously worker there. Before the worker could ask the 'can I help you?' Question, Matt jumped up and interrupted with: "yes! Please can you show us the best suits you store for reasonable prices? We have a masquerade ball at the end of this year and need something to wear!" He explained, smiling at the woman. She nodded, gesturing for them to follow her.
The two of them followed obediently.
"Here you are. Our prices for these range from £40-£100, of course, very reasonable. Have a nice day." She smiled, before leaving Matt and Donn to decide what to wear.
Matt picked up the first suit he saw, admiring it. "Jeez! I've never seen anything this fancy in my life! I can barely afford them!" He laughed. Donn didn't say anything in reply, and just scanned the suits.
"If you were a lady, which suit would you most likely want a guy to wear?"
Matt shrugged. "One; I'm not a lady. Two; how am I supposed to know? I don't know fashion. The best shirt I have is one that has a slice of cheese saying 'yo' on it... And I mean, that is barely fashionable at all." He laughed.
Donn facepalmed. "Matthew Blouse, I need your help here."
Clearing his throat, Matt nodded and immediately pointed towards a white shirt with a grey waistcoat, and a red tie.
"Huh, just like the ones people in movies wear." Donn chuckled, nodding slowly as he examined it. "I quite like it, Matt. Thank you." He scruffed up Matt's hair. Matt blushed.
"So uh... What should I wear?" Matt asked, folding his arms. "And make sure I can afford it."
Donn looked through each suit, furrowing his eyebrows at some and pulling some out to check the price, only to have a result of something Matt couldn't afford.
Eventually, they came across a black waistcoat with a tail, and black trousers to go with it. They decided it was perfect.
"I'm gonna look like some fancy butler in this!"
Matt posed.
"Hello ladies, my name's Matthew, but I'm best known for being one hell of a butler." He pouted his lips, wiggling his eyebrows.
Donn burst out in laughter.
"Alright, this one it is. Should we get a red bow tie with yours?" He grinned. Matt winked.
"Heck yeah we should."
