"So how old are you?" Mason asked me.
"I am sixteen turning on seventeen." I sang. More like 116 turning 117 but he can't know that, obviously.
He chuckled, "When is this birthday of yours?" "Next month." He nodded.
"How old are you?" I returned the question. "I have turned 17 last week actually." he replied, eyes focused on the road.
"Why'd you move here?" he then asked, "No longer liked home in Miami?"
I shook my head, "I grew up here, in San Francisco, two years ago I moved to Miami for certain reasons. Mom wanted to live here again, in our old house, so here I am." I told him in one breath.
He again nodded,"What about your dad?" he questioned.
I let out a shaky breath, "He got killed by an animal two years ago, which is why we moved." I said animal like it was a bad taste in my mouth.
He looked at me with sympathy. "I'm sorry for your loss."
I gave a small smile. "Yeah." He held onto my hand sharing a nice warm smile too.
The red emerged slowly out of the bushes showing his hairy figure. A werewolf, the vampire's natural enemy. I stepped back a little knowing there was no way I could run away from a fully grown werewolf. It showed its teeth and jumped out me but dad came to my rescue. Instead of jumping at me, it jumped on dad.
"Dad!" I screamed as the werewolf bit into his neck, ripping it off. Tears brimmed in my eyes as dad turned into dust. The werewolf turned towards me when a voice stopped it. "Dad, please, let her be, we've done enough harm." a boy, about my human age, 14 or 15. He was tanned, had short shady curly black hair and blue eyes. The werewolf looked at me one last time before walking away with the boy. I went to the spot where died and cried.
"Rose? Scarlet? Scarlet Rose?!" Mason yelled. "What!" I yelled back. "Why are you crying? You look shaken up too and paler. Are you alright?" I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine, um, something just went in my eyes." I lied.
I thought about my memory. A werewolf killed my dad. My hatred for werewolves maximized, and even though the son of that werewolf saved me, I still seek revenge.
Now that dad's gone, I have to take over the vampire pack which he was in charge of, when I turn 117. A vampire leader's position is hereditary which means it's passed on from generation to generation.
I looked at the road, "Stop here." I told him.
Mason braked infront my house. "Thanks for the ride." I thanked him. He nodded, "See you tomorrow Rose."
I walked inside my house and met my mom sitting down on the couch.
"Hey mom." I greeted her. "Hello honey, Mark asked for you." she responded. I rolled my eyes. Mark is my father's best friend's son and let's just say he's obsessed with me.
"Oh honey he he likes you. It's cute. Give the poor boy a chance." mom teased.
That poor boy needs help. "No thanks, not into boys who are obsessed with me." I told her with a fake smile. It was her turn to roll her eyes.
"I'm going for a walk in the woods." I told her.
"Okay be safe." she warned. "Can't lose you too." I heard her whisper. I flashed through the woods until I heard a sound. I went up a tree branch to see what was coming.
I saw a boy who suddenly jumped into the air and turned into a werewolf.
I gasped loudly, quickly covering my mouth. The werewolf seemed to hear and looked around but luckily for me it didn't look up.
I can't help but think how the boy looked liked Mason. But that can't be.
The werewolf ran off and I jumped off the branch. I began walking back till I heard a familiar voice.
"Rose, what are you doing here?"
