Mason.
I slowly got up, so did he. "Uh, um, I'm sorry. It's just you forgot your bag and-" Mason stuttered. "Thanks." I interrupted him.
"Uh, yeah." he said, scratching the back of his head, handing me the bag. I accepted it, touching his hand.
We quickly yanked our hands away.
I don't know why but I felt some kind of electricity when we touched. "I, um, gotta go change." I stammered, running to the girls' locker room.
Sadly, for me, the girls' locker room is in the second building while the football field is way over in the back of the third building and I have atleast 3 minutes to get ready.
I dashed into my PE clothes and rubbed on the sunscreen.
When I excited the locker room, no one was in sight. So I dashed to the football field and luckily for me, I was the first one there.
I saw Coach on the bench, reading something.
I walked over to him. "Hey Coach." I greeted. "Hello Scarlet. Right on time I see." he smiled, I nodded.
Slowly but surely the football team arrived. Bob...I mean Elliot remarked, "Mason, dude, stop bringing your girlfriend here, you're gonna make it a habit."
I blushed. "We're not-" Mason and I said in unison. "Dating." Mason finished.
"Scarlet is here to play with you guys actually Elliot. Until she's good enough to play with you guys on the team." Coach suddenly spoke.
All the guys but Mason's mouth dropped.
Elliot was about to speak when Coach continued, "That wouldn't be a problem no will it?" the way Coach eyed them even gave me goosebumps.
They all shook their heads.
"Good. Now Scarlet, we always start with five laps around the field. Then have a race around the field. Don't pressure yourself to keep up with the guys during laps okay? Ready?" he told me.
I nodded. "I'll tell you the rest after laps. Now go!" he yelled.
I began running with the guys behind me. Really far behind me. Mason ran beside me, looking like he was about to lose breath.
"How....are....y-you......r-running....so fast?" he panted.
"I keep fit." I lied. He nodded, "You're putting us guys to shame." he stated. "That's sad." I smirked.
He rolled his eyes, soon falling back behind me.
When I finished my five laps I went over to Coach. He stared at me in amazement. "You ran five laps in five minutes!" he said, still amazed.
I nodded, "That was outstanding Scarlet. They've been playing for years and are now finishing their 4th lap!" he exclaimed.
I chuckled, "Thanks Coach."
He smiled, " Okay, while we wait. After the race we practice our throwing and receiving. Then we practice our tackling. Then we go through the game, learning new points, certain instructions." I nodded.
"I'm sure I can handle it." I told him. "I think by the beginning of next month, you'll be getting your equipment." he stated.
I gasped, "Really? Do you think I'll be able to learn this in a month?" Coach Dawn nodded, "Once you put your mind to something, you'll do great. That's what I like about you."
"Coach...we're ready for the race." Elliot panted, walking up to us.
"Great, let's go to the starting point." Everyone walked over to the starting point. "Go!" We dashed off, I mildly controlled my vampire speed but I still won.
Coach, Mason and Brian high-fived me. "Great job Rose you're nailing this." Mason said.
I smiled victoriously. I am aren't I?
-------
"Okay folks, go home, get rest, see you tomorrow." Coach ended practice.
"I'll meet you by my car." Mason told me, going in the locker room. Since no one was around, I dashed to the girls' locker room.
I dashed on my clothes and dashed to Mason's car.
Ten minutes later, he finally arrived. "How long have you been waiting?" he asked. "Not that long." I lied.
We got in the car and it was peacefully silent.
I was perfect in throwing and receiving the ball and probably even better in tackling. Elliot tried so hard to tackle me but only to get his butt kicked.
The entire team, plus Coach, laughed at his failure.
The game was simple, I still have to get used to it but I'll get it.
Mason pulled up to my house. I got out and he followed me. I stopped at my door. "What have you been thinking about in the car? he asked.
"Football practice." I replied meekly, looking down.
"You were...you were amazing today." he told me. "Thanks Mason." He surprised me by kissing me.
On the cheek.
I blushed. He suddenly laughed. "What?" I squeaked. "You're cheeks are scarlet, Rose." I rolled my eyes. "See you tomorrow." I went inside.
"Tell me everything!"
