I was currently sitting on the bench by the football field. Mason invited me to watch the team practice.

Since I have nothing better to do with my life, I accepted.

That and I'm sure Mark would've been home, wanting to see me. I've watched football before and it seems rather easy. I just never tried it, it doesn't seem too interesting.

Something touched my foot, I looked down to see the ball.

"Throw it back Rose!" Mason yelled at me. I nodded, picking it up. Suddenly I heard laughter, "You;re gonna let a wimpy human girl throw back the ball?" one of the guys, I can't remember his name so lets's just call him Bob laughed.

The guys around him laughed along.

"Might as well go and get it cause it's going to reach her feet." Now all the guys were laughing besides Brian and Mason.

My jaw clenched and I stood up still holding the ball.

I wanted to cause them pain so much, but Mason would suspect me more than ever and I'd feel guilty when he would look at me.

Why does he have this effect on me?

I looked at Mason, still full of anger and I threw the ball which landed perfectly in his hands without him having to move a single muscle.

All the laughter stopped and all eyes, full of shock, were on me.

I turned to Bob and his 'crew' and bowed. I then said, "Oh wait, as a wimpy human girl, I should do this." I curtsied and sat back on the bench, ignoring the stares.

"Uh..um..go back practising!" Coach Dawn yelled at the team.

I heard his footsteps coming towards me, until they stopped infront of me.

I looked up and just before he could say anything, I said, " Can I help you with something Coach?"

He nodded. "Scarlet, you are a remarkably athletic girl." he complimented.

"Thanks." "Have you ever considered playing football?" he asked. I shook my head, "Never." he nodded.

"I would like to see you practice with the team. I see a lot of talent coming form you as a footballer. We practise on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I would like to see you tomorrow although you have no school." he told me.

Hmm...me as a footballer. Well I have nothing better to do with my evenings.

"Sure." I nodded. Coach smiled, "Great PE clothes. See you tomorrow." and with that he walked back to the field.

Like 3 hours later, they were finally finished and Mason walked over to me.

"Hey." he greeted. I nodded, welcoming his presence. "Ready to go?" he asked. I again nodded, standing up.

"Give me five minutes tops to change. I'll be right back I promise." he told me, walking into the room beside the bench.

Bob and his 'crew' were walking towards me and as he opened his mouth, I snapped, "Save it idiot."

He sighed, walking in the room, Mason walked out. Just as he promised, Mason walked out in five minutes.

---

I jumped in shotgun and he got in the driver's seat. He soon began driving.

"What Elliot said about you was really rude and I liked how you stood up to him. You looked cute."

Wait. Who's Elliot? Does he mean Bob?

"Who Bob?" I questioned. "Bob?' Mason repeated in a confused tone. I shook my head muttering a 'nevermind'

Wait, wait, wait. Shut the fridge door. Hold the ketchup. Stop the water!

Did he just say I look cute?!
