I yawned and sat up on my bed. No school! I smiled. I don't have to face Lily or Mason for the entire day.
Well I'm seeing Mason in football but whatever.
I walked downstairs, I really need to refill my intake on blood. Good thing mom went to Blood Mart yesterday.
I walked into the kitchen, mumbling a 'good morning' to mom who was sitting by the table, reading the papers and drinking some blood.
I took some blood, pouring it into a cup and began sipping. Mmm, really needed that.
The doorbell rang, mom looked at me. "I'll get it." I rolled my eyes, walking to the door, still sipping on my drink.
"Hey Rose!" I jumped back slightly. Oh goodness.
"Hey Mason." I greeted the curly headed boy. "Well I wanted to know if you'll hang with me for the day, until football practice that is." he smiled.
"Uh, um, sure." I accepted his offer.
"Cool." I nodded. "What's that you're drinking?" he asked. "It's uh, it's um, fruit punch!" I exclaimed, then caught myself. "Yup, that's what it is, fruit punch." I said calmly.
"O..kay. Really red, like blood." he chuckled. I nervously laughed.
"Yeah it does doesn't it." I faked a smile.
"Can I come inside? I know you're gonna get ready and I don't wanna wait in my car." he asked sheepishly. Oh boy, he wants to come in.
"Sure Mason you can come inside my house." I sad loudly. That was so mom could hear and hide all the vampirey things.
Mason eyed me strangely, walking inside.
"I like you're living room." he complimented. "Thanks." "That picture of you when you were younger looks really old, like if it was 1906 or something." he chuckled.
I faked a smile, "Yeah, old camera?"
He suddenly laughed, "That fruit punch is really coloured. Your teeth are really red."
"Oh really." I squeaked and instantly blushed. Is it just me or did my voice just go a million octaves higher? And I blushed?!
He chuckled. Great. He noticed.
"Oh am I disturbing something?" I heard mom's voice ask behind me. I mentally cringed. "No! No. Um. Mason and I are gonna hang out until football practice so I'm gonna get ready. Mom keep him company." I said hurriedly, handing her my cup.
"Oh can I have some fruit punch?" Mason asked.
"Fruit punch?" mom looked at him oddly, "We d-" "Mom." I hissed, "We have fruit punch in the fridge." I made eye contact to my cup in her hand.
She understood me, "Oh, yes! The fruit punch. I'll just go get some then." she said.
I sent a smile to Mason, then sighed, heading up to my room to change.
-------
"Ready Rose?" Mason questioned as I arrived downstairs.
I nodded, fixing the strap of my dufflebag with my football stuff on my shoulder. "Here let me help you." Mason said, taking my bag.
I muttered a 'thanks' and saw mom with an impressed look on her face.
"Bye Ruby, till next time." Mason smiled at mom, exiting. Ruby? Why is he calling my mom by her first name?
Ruby?" I hissed.
Mom smirked, "Oh stop it...Rose." I blushed slightly. Mom chuckled, "Have fun honey." "Thanks mom." I mumbled.
I jumped shotgun in Mason's car and soon enough he began driving. "So, Ruby?" I smirked.
Mason chuckled, "She told me to call her that." I rolled my eyes, "Where are you taking me?" "Movies, ice cream, park, football practice." I nodded.
"What movie?" "You'll know when we get there." he smirked.
"Why're you ditching school?" I asked. He shrugged, "It wouldn't have been much fun without you there with me."
That's kinda sweet.
Kinda? What do you want from the guy that was adorable?!
Oh shut up conscience.
I looked up at him, but I could see that after that statement he didn't want to look at me. "Cool." was all I could say.
