When I arrived home I saw mom in her car. She has literally zero needs for a car but whatever.

I went in shotgun and mumbled a 'hey' while putting on my seat belt. I was wondering why we weren't moving and glanced at my mom to see her staring at me.

"Can I help you?"

"Okay. What did I do." she asked, facing me. "Oh nothing." Just ruined what could've been my chance of a first kiss that's all.

"I don't believe you, and I don't have time to read your mind because we have to go."

"Well if we have to go so urgently why aren't we leaving?" I huffed, slouching in my seat. "Don't slouch." she scolded and began driving.

I rolled my eyes, looking outside the window and straightened up.

"If this is because of Mason," she said after a while, "I'm sorry, but when I said to get together on your birthday I didn't literally mean your birthday." she joked.

I couldn't help but join her in her laughter.

"He gave me a bracelet." I showed her. "Aw that's so sweet." she awed.

Mom stopped in front of an abandoned building. "It's in there?" I looked at it in disgust. "No it's behind this." she replied, leading the way.

I strolled behind her. "All rise." I heard as we reached the back.

I just stood watching everyone."Walk to the front." mom whispered to me. I, being me, dashed to the front where the dude to crown me leader stood.

"Today, we witness the crowning of a new leader." the dude spoke.

I shuffled my feet nervously, it would've been better if dad was here beside me. "Now little missy. Repeat after me."

Little missy? That's how you talk to your upcoming leader?

"I state your name." he began. "I, state your name." I repeated. The crowd behind me laughed but the dude wasn't the slightest bit amused.

From beside me I could see my mother putting her hand to her shaking head.

"I'm just kidding." I laughed. He just stared at me. I faked a cough, "I, Scarlet Rose White." "Take this role as leader of the vampire pack." I repeated.

"And promise to do my duties ad take care of the pack and do my best to carry on as the past leaders did." he said.

"Wait.." I began,"What was that long thing you just said" I asked.

He repeated. "Boy that's really long, how am I to remember that?" I slightly exclaimed. "Just say it!" the dude snapped at me.

"Rude." I muttered before saying the long line.

"I now pronounce Scarlet Rose White as our new leader!" I beamed and applauded with everyone.

"Her respectful names are Queen, Your Highness, Your Majesty and Leader."

Jeez all that? "They could just call me Scarlet." I told him with which he replied with a glare. I faked a smile and walked over to mom.

"I'm so proud of you Scarlet." she hugged me tightly. "Thanks mom." I returned it.

"Congratulations Scarlet Rose and happy birthday." I heard the annoying voice of Mark. "Thank you Mark and for the amazing gift but for probably the millionth time, call me Scarlet."

He nodded and he and I both knew he wasn't going to listen to me.

"Mark!" his dad called, thank you! He left and hundreds of other vamps came to congratulate me and wish me happy birthday. Some expressed condolences for father's death which I don't get caused he died years ago.

I sat at a table, bored out of my mind, this party is for old people!

And the sad thing is that it's for me! I sighed as I watched everyone going to dance on the dance floor with their partner.

Even Mark had a partner, that his dad forced him to be with.

"What a great celebration of me." I mumbled.  "Some shindig isn't it?" a voice suddenly spoke behind me.

I turned around to see a blonde boy with a semi-formal outfit.

"Yup, the best. I should come to these more often." I replied sarcastically. He laughed, "I feel you. This is boring."

"Yeah." I laughed with him.

"So you wanna dance?" he asked. "Sure." I smiled, getting up. I took his hand and we began slow dancing.

Normally this would suck but- "What's your name?" I asked.

"Ross." he replied. "Scarlet Rose." I told him. He laughed, "I know. This party is for you right, Your Majesty, or do you prefer leader?"

"Oh neither." I hide my head in his shoulder.

Ross is really relatable, it's like we've known each other for years. He's extremely funny, he had me laughing the whole time. He's like a brother I never had.

The song ended and we shared a hugged and that same moment I saw Mason shaking his head and walking away into the woods.

"Oh no." I mumbled.

"I had a lot of fun." Ross smiled. "So do I  but I have zero interest in you." I said quickly. "What?" he asked in confusion.

"Oh no wait,I mean I don't like you like that." I replied, looking down, "I actually like you as a brother."

He began laughing. I stared at him oddly, "What's so funny?"

"I don't like you. I have a girlfriend. I like you as a sister." he laughed. "Oh." "You really thought I liked you." he continued to laugh.

I frowned, "That's not funny." "Right, right, I apologize." he smiled.

"Well I have to go but I'll be back, so enjoy the party." I said before dashing into the woods after Mason. I stopped, seeing him by a tree.

"Mason?" I called softly.

"He didn't reply. I walked up to him, placing a hand on his shoulder which he immediately shrugged off.

I sighed.

"We weren't even together for a day but you're already falling for someone else." he spoke. "I don't like Ross, you have no reason to be jealous." I replied rather calmly.

"Oh so I saw a ghost looking like you enjoying his company."

"Well if there's vampires and werewolves there must be ghosts who can shape shift." I joked. He rolled his eyes. I chuckled, "Not the time I see."

"Look, you're acting like a complete idiot. Sure I enjoyed his company because that party sucked and he's fun to be around." I defended.

"So you admit you like him." Mason said.

"Of course I like him, but as a brother!" I yelled. "Yeah right." he replied stiffly, walking away. "Hey!" I again yelled stopping him. "You can't just come accusing me and not even listening to what I have to say."

"I listened, I just don't believe you." he said, still glaring at me.

I continued, " A relationship doesn't work like that! Our relationship can't work like that!" His face softened.

"Look, I want this to work, but if you can't even trust me, I just-"

"No, I'm not listening to this." he returned to his stiff way, again walking away. "There you go again, walking off!" I yelled, "I'm trying to explain this to you! You can't just walk off on me!"

"Oh yeah! Watch me!" he yelled back, walking off but this time I didn't stop him.

If he wants to be a jerk, let him be a jerk. I angrily marched back to my stupid party.
