Chapter Nineteen

I open my eyes and the sun was shining through the curtains. I took out my phone and checked the time, it was 10:27am. I guess I slept through my alarm. I yawned still tired because I didn't get much sleep. I don't want to go to school today... I yelled for my mom but got no answer. I forgot she had to leave early in the morning. I can't stay home because what if she comes home early? I decided to go to a little cafe for the day. Then come home when school is over.

I got out of bed just to be greeted by a gust of cold wind. Goosebumps were covering my skin. I ignored it and walked to the bathroom. The bruise looked worse. Jesus, how hard did he hit me? Looks like I was jumped by a group of 5.

I sighed, I'm not even going to try to cover it up. I started to pack my bag. I grab a book, my charger, my laptop and my phone. I changed into fresh clothes and put on my shoes.

I walked to the small cafe that was a couple blocks down. When I walked in, there was barely anyone there. Just the way I like it. I got stared at probably because it looked like I was beat up. I took my seat and got my laptop out. I watched some YouTube videos while I got something to drink.

I was reading the book I got when I heard the door open. I looked to see who was walking in and it was Jordan and his friends. I guess it was lunch time. I sighed and looked down pretending I didn't see him.

"Hey Liz" Jordan said sitting across from me

"What do you want now?" I say annoyed "What are you even doing here?"

"We always come here for lunch" He said

"Well you're 'friends' are over there, not here" I said pointing to the other side of the room

"I know, but I was wondering if you're coming to class today" He said

"I'm not going" I replied

"Why?" He asked

"I don't know, probably because I don't want to be stared at or explain why I have a big ass bruise on my cheek" I snapped

"Look I said I was sorry and I am. I'm being serious" He said

"Yeah right" I scoffed

"Liz-"

"No, save it." I interrupted and looked at my phone "Look, I got to go" I lied, I didn't have to go anywhere but I don't want to be in this situation

"Can we talk?" He asked

"The last time we talked you fucking punched me in the face" I said raising my voice. I looked around the room and everyone was staring at us. I gathered my things and walked out of the cafe. I heard Jordan yelling my name but I kept on walking. I went to the same park Bee and I was at and sat under the same tree. I looked at my phone and I was a couple texts from Bee, Joe, and Will. I decided I'll call Will

W: Liz?

L: The one and only

W: Why aren't you at school?

L: Because I don't want to go today

W: That's a horrible excuse. Where are you?

L: At a park down the street

W: Want me to come over?

L: Please?

W: Sure I'll be there soon

We hung up and I waited about 10 minutes until Will came. I look around and saw Will, Bee, Joe and Zack

"Hey Liz- Jesus who did that to you?" Will asked

"Did what?" I said

"Don't play stupid, that big ass bruise on your face. Who did that?" Bee said

"Long story" I said shaking my head

"We got time" Joe said as all 4 of them sat down next to me
