The Mirror update. It was the talk about around town, both in real life and in Grandiel’s multitude of towns and cities. My friends and I are still in awe about this update. Every detail was the same: the texture of my hair and its color, my nose, even my cheeks, it’s all the same.

The only thing different was that I still had every piece of equipment on and not changing into the clothes that I am wearing in real life. We all talked about it after a few days after the update’s release. We were walking around the town of Astria, with our real life avatars.

“This is amazing, don’t you think?” Sara started off.

“E-everyone in class was surprised, Sir Hank wasn’t an exemption.” Erica said, playing around her hair, twirling it around her fingers.

“Yeah, at first I freaked out seeing myself here.” I remarked holding the new item in my hand.

The mirror item, is a usable item that does not vanish even after use. It was a permanent usable item able to change from your original gaming avatar to your real life self. The user simply needs to look at the mirror and after a 5 second period, you change into your real life self and vice versa. Although, it has a cool down time of 3 minutes per use so it cannot be used on a whim and changing back.

“Still, I never figured that I’ll be seeing you all in Grandiel, in the flesh literally.” Penelope said. We all laughed as we watched the sun set from there. Astria is a mountain town after all, and watching sunsets here was breathtaking and relaxing.

I look into my NET clock; it was 6:52 in the evening. I was waiting, and looking at the clock frequently didn’t make my waiting faster.

“W-why the long face, Nat?” Erica notices it, and I tried laughing it off her mind but Penelope intervened.

“Oh, you know, she’s still waiting for Chris to show up.”

“You were the one to let him off today, since a friend of his needed his help.” Sara added, patting me gently on the shoulder.

“Yeah...”

I looked up the sky and tried thinking of something else as I wait for him. Sara, having noticed my complete boredom in waiting, stands up and reaches out her hand towards me.

“Hey, Tasha. Wanna go strolling for a bit?”

“But we were supposed to meet up here.”

“Just a small stroll, we’ll be back soon. I promise.”

I look at Penelope and Erica who give me a thumbs up as if saying I should go with Sara. I take her hand, standing up and walking alongside Sara. The town slowly started lighting up as the sun has already set. The lights are pretty that it was able to keep me from looking at my clock often.

“So... how are things in your new class?” Sara starts asking me along the way.

“It’s good. I kept them off bay with a few excuses about not being able to go to their invitation.”

“I see.”

“But, I kinda feel guilty now. Maybe I should at least show myself.”

“Yeah, we now have this mirror right? You can just walk in there as Natasha Graham and not as Yuit for once.”

“You’re… right. But can you still accompany me?”

“Silly, of course. I know you’re not the crowd type kind of gal.”

After a few minutes of walking, while heading back to the mountain top, Sara soon starts another topic rolling.

“Oh, Chris’ birthday is coming up.”
