An irk feeling started building up inside me. It just builds up all throughout the day as time passes by. Every time I would just caught glimpse of her blonde hair, how I wish I could make her pay for what she did. I wasn’t normally a spiteful person, but, I just wish she’d get a hint and didn’t persist in sitting at her seat.
But this irk feeling started to quell down in an amazing rate after receiving a message coming from my uncle.
[Uncle: I hope you do consider going today. She’ll really like it if you do.]
It slipped my mind again, for a second time, what today was. I really am a terrible person with a terrible memory. I had already considered going but with the duel already set in motion, I had a dilemma that needed to be resolved today. But I need someone to help me, someone who can talk Brianna into at least postponing our duel. And there was only one person I can think of.
“Eh? Earlier this morning, you were already ready to jump the gun in dueling her and now you want to postpone it for tomorrow?!” Sir Hank almost spilled his instant cup noodles the moment he hears me out that lunch break.
“W-well, I forgot I had to do something later today so—“
“Hey, I respected you about not moving and no one moving into that seat. Even your classmates backed you up! Don’t tell me that was all for nothing.”
“I-it’s not! But, I…”
“Might I ask, what is it so important that you’re willing to postpone it till tomorrow?”
“Um… I-it’s… my mom’s birthday today.”
“Okay, so can’t she wait for a few minutes?”
“My mom’s dead for 7 years now.”
“Oh.” Sir Hank scratches his head and settles down his cup noodles on his table. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“She’s a few stations out to where Natie’s at and the cemetery will close at 7 this evening.”
“Where Natasha lives huh? That’ll take at least 2 hours to get there and that’s by train.” I nod in agreement.
We both fell silent for a while, and soon Sir Hank stands up, “I’ll try what I can do.”
“T-thanks sir.”
It was already about a few minutes since I left the classroom, but as I got back, it seems we got flooded not by water, but by people. As I tried squeezing myself to get inside the room, the people who were literally blocking the doors were all here to take a peek at the new student, Brianna.
“That’s a lot of people…” I utter to myself.
“No kidding.” An answer came back, it was from Richardson which he rebutted, “Didn’t have this much crowd when you and Natasha came.”
“It was the start of the whole school year, you’d expect to see a lot new faces!”
“Oh yeah.” Richardson scoffs and crosses his arms, “Still, you really are gonna duel her?”
“Y-yeah, of course.”
“Well, good luck.” Richardson pats my back, giving me his support. We both went to look at the swarmed new transferee, Brianna. Left and right we could hear questions being asked at her even from where we were. But, amidst all of the questions being asked, one particular one caught her attention.
“Are you really serious about dueling Chris?”
“Who’s Chris?” Brianna asks, not knowing what my name was.
