“H-hey, is it really alright to do this?” I look into Brianna’s eyes, feeling anxious as to what we were about to do.
“It’s alright, there’s nothing wrong with what we’re doing.” Brianna’s confidence shows through her reply.
“Brianna…”
“Besides, you’ve been stressed out a lot these past few weeks, isn’t this the perfect time for that?”
“You know what, let’s just stop this and go back to what we’re doing.”
“Aw come on! It’ll only be a few minutes.” Brianna pins me down with great force. And there I was, lying comfortably on Brianna’s soft lap, they felt pillows the instant I laid on them.
“T-this is embarrassing… what if someone finds us?” I blurt out as I look at her; she had this pleasant look all over her face as she strokes my hair gently.
“Not listening to you and your complaints this time, Chris.” She flicks my forehead.
“Ow.”
“I barely put any force in that. Come on, rest like I told you to so.”
“F-fine. Just five minutes okay?”
“Five minutes.” As I lay there trying to rest, I think back to what had happened this morning.
The workload of being a class representative was a tough one, especially during school related events. Everything needed to be taken care of, up to the smallest detail that an event could possibly have. The sports competition was just around the corner right before the midterm exams by the second week of December.
It was already the last week of October, the last Tuesday for this month. The weather was starting to cool down, and the last leaves from trees have already fallen down. The student council and its year level committee are at a rush to finalize plans and preparations so by the resume of classes at January, most of the work will be done.
With all the work to be done, I had to keep up with my upperclassmen who were counting on me to do my part of the labor. Which brings me back to what happened this morning. Sir Hank had caught me dozing off during his lecture.
“Hmm, now this isn’t something I see every day.” He smacks my head lightly with the book he was holding, shaking me off my sleep.
“S-sorry, Sir Hank.”
“Now, let’s back to where what we were discussing.” He continues on with his lecture as I try to wake my senses up. And this wasn’t the first instance I’ve dozed off. Just this day, I feel like I’ve slept at every class we had.
“Hey Chris, you okay? You seem tired.” Richardson asks while we were having lunch.
“Yeah, I just feel… sleepy.” I yawn in between my reply.
“Must be tough doing all that committee stuff huh?” Richardson looks at Brianna’s direction, “Well, compared to you, Brianna doesn’t seem to be worn out as you.”
“Yeah… I guess she manages stress that well.”
“Being the principal’s daughter, must be nice to have no obligations at home huh?” Brianna notices me looking at her and makes her way towards us.
“What are you guys talking about?”
“O-o-oh! Brianna, y-you’re here.” Richardson said in a panicked state.
“Hmm? You seem flustered.” Brianna picks up Richardson’s uneasiness and to which he replies, “O-oh, it’s nothing right, Chris?”
“Huh? Oh, right.”
