The sun slowly skimmed up from behind the trees. I jelled my hair, pulled on my sweater, and then wrote a note to my parents.
Dear Mom and Dad:
I am going for a run around NorthWood Lake
Love Jaxon
I pulled on my shoes and ran out the door. I had been going for runs around a lake not far from where I lived to stay in shape. Being a member of the Gifted Six I had to maintain fitness because Darkness could attack at any time. I reached the lake and started running the six kilometers. The Gifted Six was a group of six people who had extremely strong powers. And they were to destroy Darkness. If one of them died; Darkness won, and I was on of them. I controlled the element of Ice (the rarest of all elements) and I attended an Academy for people like me; The Academy of Elements. There I had made many friends including my best friend James. James and I had met when we toured around the school. He was the only Ice kid in the second year, besides me. The other two members of Ice were Elise and Sarah. James had a huge crush on Sarah since last year. Elise was very smart, she had been able to tell that I was a member of the Gifted Six even before it was announced throughout the whole magical world. The other five members of the Gifted Six were Ella, Denen, Aira, Brennen, and Haley. Ella and I had used to date but we broke up (two times) but right before we killed Darkness we had kissed so our relationship was... interesting. Ella controlled the element of Fire and used to be best friends with a girl named Rose until she had kissed me (which caused our second break up). Denen was also one of my best friends. He controlled the element of Lightning and was Brennen's twin. Brennen and Denen were both abandon on the streets of Toronto when they were young and taken in by a young couple. Brennen controlled the power of Water and he and Ella used to date. Aira was the Air Elemental of The Gifted Six and was best friends with Haley who controlled Earth and was also in the Gifted Six.
I was about half way around the lake when I came face to face with Ella.
"Hey..." She greeted awkwardly.
"Hey..." I replied.
"How are you?" Asked Ella. "Have got your letter yet?"
"No," I answered
"Oh... I just got it this morning." She smiled.
"See you around I guess," I said awkwardly and ran off.
The rest of the lake seemed short compared to what it usually felt. I rushed back home, grabbed the mail, and then ran into my house. Sitting down at the island I checked the email, sure enough, an envelope assigned for Jaxon Fern Hill sat at the bottom.
"Is that the envelope for this year?" My dad asked. I nodded.
I opened it quickly and read through it.
Dear Jaxon Fern Hill:
The second year of your education is about to begin. Like last year please bring seven pairs of clothes as well as anything you wish. We look forward to seeing you. Transportation will come on September 5th.
Sincerely Mrs. Nicole Headmistress at Einstein Academy
I quickly ate my breakfast and headed upstairs to pack. I would be picked up in two days. The reason I had gotten the envelope saying I would go to Einstein Academy was because no humans could know about the magic world. As soon as I got into my room the note started burning. I dropped it in alarm. The note was fully engulfed in flames now. Quickly the fire died and a new note was in its place. I picked up the note read it.
Dear Jaxon Hill:
Everything applies from the fake letter. Please bring your pet in a cage.
See you soon~ Mrs. Nicole
I smiled. I was going home in two days, back home to my friends.
