The sun rose over the snowy trees creating a blinding image. Cars drove past my window throwing the brown snow behind them. I sat up from my bed hearing a ding on my phone.

"John told me that you two made up? Sorry about how rude I was..." Ella had texted.

A smile crept across my face. Not being8 able to talk to Ella for over two months had killed me. I got out of bed and had a shower. Before I turned off the shower I closed my eyes and focused on freezing the steaming hot water. The water dropped a few degrees; clenching my fists I focused harder. I stepped out of the shower as needles of Ice pelted against the tile floor splintering in an explosion of crystal.

I get dressed and open the window of my room. A cold breeze runs through out my room making it smell like freshly fallen snow. Taking a deep breath I grabbed my phone and headed down stairs to be greeted by the sizzling of bacon and the smell of pancakes.

I ate my breakfast quickly eager to go out into the snow like a five year old. "Won't you be cold?" My mother questioned seeing me with out a coat on.
"Nope." I replied; and quickly I exited the house before she could comment the cold air prickling my face. Snow fell lightly from the sky landing on my chocolate brown hair. I walked away from my house and into the forest behind it. As a child I was deathly afraid of the woods. I always assumed that monstrous creatures like Werewolves and Goblins lived in there; now knowing that those things actually existed made the thought more terrifying. But every fear is meant to haunt you until you conquer them.

I stepped into the woods the world instantly getting darker. The floor of the forest was covered in snow, tracks of dears, bunnies, and fox's scattered here and there. Silver birch trees grew from the ground, painted with dark spots.

Closing my eyes I focused on the cold air around me. Sucking it in like a vacuum I opened my eyes. I pushed out my hands, Ice swirling out of them. Spinning around I slashed the air; a ray of crystal flying threw the air dissipating in the air once it hit a tree. With my last ounce of strength I pushed my hands in the air I created a huge blast of ice. It blew into the air swirls of ice and ice snowflakes falling from the sky. I spun around my hand down; a circle of ice flew from me disappearing once it hit a tree. I loved my power. Not because it was strong but also because it was beautiful.

My thoughts were drawn back to reality when a branch snapped. I spun around my hand forward ready to strike. "Quite a show." Laughed Ella. I closed my eyes and laughed.
"Thanks." I smiled.

Ella and I walked beside each other threw the snow covered woods, snow now falling a bit harder. "What's happened to you since we last talked?" I asked her.

"Well, as you seam to be aware John and I are dating." A knot of jealousy and envy of John tightened in my stomach. "My powers have been getting stronger; and so have yours by the looks of it." I nodded. "That's pretty much it. How about you?"
"Well..." I started. "Rose and I are now... dating, I guess."

Ella's face lit up. "Congrats." She smiled.

"James is pissed at me, John and I are no longer hating each other, and Elise is also my friend again." I explained.

"Cool."

We stopped walking when we came to a large sized pond. "Watch." I told Ella. I crouched down touching my hands to the cold water of the pond. Closing my eyes, I imagined the lake freezing solid, partially feeling bad if there were fish in it. Ella and I walked onto the slippery Ice.

On my shoes I skidded around the Ice. I had always been alright at skating, but I was much better now. "Come on!" I called to Ella. Nervously, Ella stepped onto the Ice sliding her feet to propel her forward as she neared me she slipped her hands wheeling around. I caught her hand and pulled her up. We were only an inch away from each other. I could smell her rich caramel breath with a hint of chocolate. Her honey eyes stared into my golden brown ones melting me on the inside. No, no, no, no! I cried in my head. A fire burnt in me stronger and stronger the longer we spent like this even though it was only a few seconds it felt like forever. But forever always ends. The Ice beneath my feet cracked and Ella and I fell into the water that was so cold that even I was freezing.

As the world got darker and darker I swam towards Ella my limbs going numb. Ella floated against the surface of the Ice her eyes closed. Water seamed to be pulling me down like tentacles of an octopus; I blasted ice down propelling myself forward. I grabbed Ella by the waist closed my eyes and shattered the Ice on the surface. Pulling Ella up, we emerged from the dark water. I pushed Ella onto the freezing cold ground pulling myself up as well.

"E-Ella..." I whispered in her ear. Ella's lip slowly parted, her head moved slowly. "Ella! I whispered/yelled.

Ella's eyes fluttered open. "Jaxon!" She screamed giving me a hug. I felt sparks as her freezing cold skin touched mine. "Here, let me start a fire. Could you get some sticks?" She asked. I got up and went to the nearest tree picking up some sticks on the ground. Walking back over I saw Ella with a a face that terrified me. "What's wrong?!" I asked concerned.

"I-I, can't use my powers..." Ella whispered.

"What?"
