The horizon was red like blood as the sun slowly made its way up the sky casting away the darkness of the night. I lay in bed looking up at the white ceiling. I had yet to talk to James since our argument and honestly I didn't want to.

Slowly I got out of bed and took a long shower then got dressed. In my head I decided not to go to the older students duel, only because I didn't want to be stared at. It wasn't that I was depressed and angry with myself when I had... Scarlett; this was more of a embarrassment that I let John make me look like the bad guy. It was ten when I finally came out of my room. Everyone else in Ice had gone to the duel so I had the dorms to myself.

"Hey r u at the duel?" I texted Rose on my phone.

"No." She replied.

"Wanna hang out?" I typed.

"Sure." She responded. "Meet me in the town in 15 mins."

Quickly I ate my lunch and jelled my hair up and walked towards the town. Rose was one of the few people I knew I could always trust; and even if we had complicated feelings towards each other I would always trust her.

I walked down the cobblestone path along the lake. For the first time in a while I looked around the grounds. The lake had golden leaves floating on the surface creating ripples disturbing the smooth water. Rose sat on a bench near the lake with a small purse. "Hey." I greeted sitting beside her.
"How are you?" She asked me.
"Meh." I responded looking down."James is pissed at me."
"It wasn't your fault really." Rose said touching my shoulder sending a tingle through me. "And I believe you, John doesn't seem very... Nice."
"Thanks." I smiled. I truly was blessed to have a friend like Rose.
Instead of going to village Rose and I sat on the bench and chatted for a few hours until it was time for dinner.

Later that nightI sat at my desk playing with Remy when my tattoo began to burn. I cluched my upper arm as it seared the lain growing. Through the gaps of my finger I could see it glowing.
I hunched over to my door and opened it and went to the kitchen.
"Jaxon? Whats wrong?" Asked Elise.
"Nothing." I replied sturnly, still sour about the other day.
I opened the freezer and took out an ice pack and putting it to my tattoo.

The door opened revealing John with a pack of pills in his. When he saw my face he looked down and walked into his room. I walked back to my room kicking the door to close it.
Then it hit me. The only reason why my tattoo should be glowing is because Darkness is nearby, which meant he was art the school.  It was times like this i wish things between Ella and I were less awkward. I could always tell her my secrets.

It was twelve at night and the idea of Darkness at the school kept me up. it was scary, and hard to believe. The school was one of the safest places in the magical part of the human world which meant that nowhere was safe. I had to tell someone. I couldn't tell Rose she wasn't part of the Gifted Six, None of the Gifted Six talked to me either so that was off the option, that meant it only left one person.

I pulled on my shirt and some blue athletic pants. Quietly I snuck out of the dorms and into the cold wet night. Rain pelted down on arms creating goosebumps. The moon was full tonight and sending glowing beams cascading across the trees creating eerie shadows. I passed the lake the moon reflecting on its surface beautifully.

As I entered the town I felt a pair of eyes staring at my back. I closed my eyes and spun around releasing a blast of Ice. The Ice hit a tree with no one to be seen in sight. I continued walking onto the main road shaking off the feeling. The water in the canal splashed against the sides of the concrete creating a soothing and also creepy sound.

Finally I came to the bookstore. Nervously I knocked on the door and waited. I saw a light flicker on upstairs and then the door opened.

"Jaxon?" Scolded Alexander. "What are you doing up so late?"

"My tattoo." I said pushing up my sleeve revealing the soft glow of my tattoo. "Darkness is somewhere at the school."

"Come in." Alexander said sternly.

I entered the book store and walked up the stairs at the back of the shop. Alexander's house was simple. There was a kitchen and dining table, a sitting room with a blue couch and a T.V. (despite the rustic house) and more stairs up to what must be his bedroom.

"Sit down." He told me motioning to the dining table. "Tea?"

"Please." I smile.

Alexander started moving around the kitchen boiling some water, "When did the tattoo start glowing?" He asked.

"About seven." I informed him.
"Did anyone come near you that weren't near you before?" Alexander questions.

"Yes." I confirmed. "John, the transfer student from new zealand."
Alexanders face went serious.

"Wait." I questioned. "You think John might be Darkness."

"No. I think that John has been possesed by Darkness."

"We have to tell Mrs. Nicole!" I told him in a state of panic.

"You can't. You need proof." He tells me.

"Then I'll find proof. If i dont. Then the whole world is in danger." I stated seriously. And I was right. The whole world would be in danger if I didn't expose John.
