Damn it was hot. Like really hot.

My eyes creaked open. Lifting myself up I looked out over a massive hole. It was about the size of four football fields. The floor was covered with beasts and Death-Hunter, both roaring at shrieking. At one end of the floor was a stage of earth, a throne in the middle of it. Behind the throne was a tunnel, large iron gates blocking anyone from seeing inside. And then there was the walls. Tunnels sat around the walls, some iron bars blocking windows, and where I was, the jail.

The cell was made entirely of the baked earth, only the front iron bars.

"Haley?" I whispered

"Jaxon!?" I heard.

"Can you get us out of here?"

"I already tried." Haley said sadly. "The rock is coated with Iron.

Iron was immune to all magic but Darkness's power. I studied the cell more carefully, the rock was smooth all the way around, only in the right hand corner was it bumpy...

c"Yeah?"

"Get rid of the stone in the right corner." A low grumbling sound rung out and then silence. "There's an iron door!"

"Does it have a hole in it anywhere?"

"Yes." Haley replied. "The top is iron bars."

I let out a sigh. I had been working on getting through rock all year with my powers, and this was my final test. My thoughts were intercepted by a loud rumble from the floor below. I turned my attention to the large gates opening slowly, revealing what I recognized as Darkness himself. His long hair bellowed out in the warm breeze, his dark eyes now wavering in the slightest. Behind him came John, his face pale, his eyes scanning here and there, and then finally resting on me.

Then came Ella. Her face was ghost white, as if it had been bleached. Her chest heaved as she found us, those warm fiery honey eyes staring into my freezing blue ones.

Darkness sat on his throne and Ella and John stood either side both silent.

"Jaxon, Brennen, Denen, Aira, Haley, good to see you my grandchildren." He laughed I stepped back pressing back against the rough stone. Ice surged from my hands curling away as it touched the stone, I winced as I kept pushing through every crack possible.

"Haley, I'm impressed by your attempt of your escape." Darkness chuckled. "But I am rather repulsed you didn't try to help your friends. Selfish like your mother."

"Don't talk of my mother." I heard Haley sneer.

My Ice hit iron. In an instant recoil it rushed to escape as I had planned, barging its way through the stone. The stone exploded, dust crawling across my cell, covering me, just as I had planned.

Darkness roared as I pressed against the iron door seeping my ice into the key hole. I kept pushing on it as it tried to escape from the iron as if it were molten lava. I made the ice solid instead of energy and grabbed the key handle and twisted. I fell into a hallway lined with guards, whom were all frozen before they could speak.

I grabbed a key from a guard, with ice surrounding his mouth, arms, and legs. Quickly I ran to a door with some light seeping from it, knowing it was Haley's and twisted.

"Come on!" I urged as she ran to greet me. I unlocked the other doors as Haley crumbled the stone for the others to escape. Quickly and efficiently Haley grew up the stone and I re-locked the doors, wiping away our escape method with ease.

As we exited the hallway Haley grew another stone wall, trapping any guards who could possibly talk in a inescapable tomb.

Quickly we ran through the halls. "Where are we going?" Aira questioned.

"To save Ella." I confirmed. "We have to get to those iron gates so we can rescue and end this. Forever." I added.

Guards stormed the hallway as water rushed around them and lightning hit the water. We walked towards the water ball as it vanished up and the people were left on the ground, most twitching, and those who were not zapped by Denen again.

We twisted through the hallways, avoiding all the guards we could. A barred window stood at the end of the hallway, light stained red seeping in.

I spied out of it. "Find them!" Darkness yelled as a cage of Darkness grew around both Ella and John. John. He knew he was on our side... if he was...

I took our location into account and kept leading the others down the hall, down stairs, and then; I wasn't sure if it was luck or bad luck I came to a double iron door, labelled:

BARRACKS

With a gulp I took the door handle, the magic in me recoiling, and pushed...
