After Elemental Healing I went straight back to the dorms. As I sat at my desk playing with Remy when I heard the door open. I knew that James, Sarah, and Elise had already come home and were working outside on there powers. Curiously I stepped out of my room and came face to face with John.

"What're you doing here?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" He smirked. "I live here."
"What's your problem with me?" I questioned angrily.

"I don't." He said. "I just don't understand why Light would choose some pathetic kid to be the most powerful elemental. She should choose the strongest."

James walked into the dorms. "Hey Jaxon?" Asked James. "Want to come practice outside?"

"No thank you..." I said shyly. "I have to practice with the others."

"I'll practice." John said in his fake polite voice.

They walked back outside leaving me alone with Remy in my hands. I stormed into the kitchen and grabbed some Ice cream that Aira had stole from the kitchen and headed back into my room.

The few weeks went smoothly. Ella and I had fallen apart a but but we were still "together". I had kept my distance from John. James, Sarah, Elise, John (ugh), Denen, Brennen, Ella, Aira, Haley, and I were all siting our normal table when Soren walked onto the raised area were the teachers ate.

"Hello everyone." Soren said clearing his throat. "I am here to announce that the second and third year's first Elemental Duels will be next Saturday. Then fourth, fifth, and sixth will be on the Sunday after that. The Stadium is located in the forest below the dorms area for those who don't know. Thank you! Goodnight!"

I finished eating my pizza but I couldn't help noticing how close John and Ella were getting. Ell finished eating and I followed her out of the cafeteria. I ran to catch up to her we walked in silence till we stopped at the lake.

"Ella." I said. She looked at me. "Do you like me?"

"Yes, Jaxon." She smiled. "You know that." She sounded sincere but a part of me was unsure.

"Its just..." I started. "You've been really distant since the second day here."

"I know." She said bowing her head. "I just don't want things to happen like last year. If I'm going to be with someone I want to stay with them; and quite frankly it doesn't seem like we're meant to be together anymore."

"So, we're; breaking up for the last time?" I asked.

"No." She shook her head. "We're just going our separate ways for now."

We hugged for maybe the last time.  As she dropped her arms I felt a black hole open in my heart sucking in my happiness. Ella walked away leaving me alone at the lake. The moon shown down on the water send crystal coloured waves moving peacefully along the surface. I walked down to the beach and touched my hand to the water. The water around my hands dropped in temperature as it turned to Ice. A tear fell down my cheek and landed on the Ice. I turned around as the whole lake froze over and walked back to the dorms.

I sat on my bed reading my history book. Maybe Ella had been right; maybe we weren't meant to be together. I heard the door. James laugh rung out as well as Johns. I closed my eyes and fell into a restless sleep.

I stood nervously watching Ella and Aira duel. Who ever won would face me in the final duel. If I lost that I would face against the loser of this duel.

Ella kicked Aira sending her flying backwards into the bar. She struggled to get back up leaning against a post. Ella ran at Aira. Aira quickly sent a blast of wind sending Ella summersaulting backwards. While Ella was down Aira ran forward to pin her down. Ella kicked Aira's leg making her fall down. Quickly, she got up and pinned her down for five seconds.

"Ella is the winner!" Soren announced. "Which means she will be facing Jaxon for first place."

Great, I was facing Ella. We hadn't talked since last night. I ducked under the rope and stood at the right end of the ring. "Good luck." Ella said to me.

"Go!" bellowed Soren.

Ella sent a blast of fire at me. I dodged it by a hair and sent a ray of Ice at her. It hit her in the arm making her wince. I didn't want to hurt Ella; but I defiantly didn't want to lose. Ella sent a blast of fire at me and I blocked It by making an Ice shield. I pushed my hands out and rays of Ice came out of my hands. Ella intercepted it with a ray of fire. Both rays hit creating a ball of energy of power. I pushed my hands out wards. It felt like I was pushing against a wall of concrete that I had to move. Ella's hand loosened and the ray hit her stomach. She flew to the bar. Quickly I ran forward and pinned her down for five seconds.

"Jaxon wins!" Soren declared. "Meaning that he is in first place, Ella is in second, and Aira is in third. Good job you all. However Denen, Brennen, and Haley you all need to work on you're technique."

Denen, Brennen, and Haley nodded and walked off followed by Ella and Aira.

"I'll see you in Elemental Control." Soren smiled and then shoed me off.

I walked towards the cafeteria. As I walked past the library and into the hub I noticed a group of people piled around someone. I walked up to them. John was in the middle using his powers to create light blue swirls.

"Awesome!" Cried an Earth boy.

"Cool!"

"Amazing."

I rolled my eyes. Anyone who controlled Ice could do that. Including me. I pushed my hands out and swishes of Ice flew out of my hands. The twisted around the room people stared in aww. I noticed John disappear but I kept going.

"Jaxon Hill!" I heard a voice yell. I stopped and turned around to see Mr. Clerk (the monster teacher) standing on the stairs with John beside him. "Detention tonight!"

John walked down the stairs smiling and bumped into me sending me to the ground. It was then that I knew I truly hated John.

I walked back and forth placing books on a shelf in Mr. Clerks classroom. He was the teacher of Monsters (a class you had the option to take in fourth year in replacement for Magical Creatures). I had heard he was evil but I truly underestimated that.

"Great!" He smiled at me as finished putting the last book on the shelf. "Now you get to scrub the floors." I decided it wasn't worth it to argue with him. Quickly, before he could complain that I was going to slow; I grabbed a towel and started scrubbing the floor. When I finished the floor it had hit six thirty (the end of my detention). Before he could say anything I bolted from the room, down the stairs, and into the cafeteria.

"Where were you?" Elise asked as I sat down beside her.

"In detention." I sneered.

"Why?" She asked curiously.

"John is a-" John walked up and sat beside Elise. "right here." I smiled.

Elise looked confusingly at me then went back to eating her garlic bread.

I laid in bead restlessly; I couldn't sleep. Tomorrow was the first Elemental Duel and I was incredibly nervous. I looked at my tablet. It was one in the morning. I put my phone away and fell into a restless sleep.

There you go!

I can't believe we are on chapter 5 already!

Ok... Some changes... Its kind of hard to right a second book when you aren't done the re-write of the first so bear with me. In the new version the Gifted Six don't have tattoo's they have necklaces that Ice in Jaoxn's case gave him at birth because Ice is Jaxons actual dad... Make sense? The necklaces hold the power of the original elements and have a charm on them that looks like the emblem.
