Chapter 2: Back

As I sat on my couch staring out my window my Mom came and sat down beside me.
"Jaxon..." She said, her voice wavering. "I love you. I want you to email once a week, I want you to do good in school, and most of all, have fun."
I smiled. Even though it was the second time I was going to the Academy my mom of course was being very emotional.
As the limo rolled in front of our house my mom wiped her tears away and smiled. I grabbed Remy and my bag and headed out the door.
As I sat in the limo I took a bite of a chocolate pine cone. Wafer and Carmel and chocolate flooded my mouth as we pulled in front of Ella's house. Ella walked down. Her eyes were red and puffy from tears and her breath was heavy.
She sat beside me after putting her things in the trunk.
"How has your summer bean?" She asked Ella and I.
"Good." Ella and I said in unison.
"Over debating with myself..." Mrs Nicole started. "I have come to the conclusion you should know something."
Ella and I looked at Mrs. Nicole quizzically.
"I am the last generations Fire member of the Gifted Six." She announced.
"What!?" I questioned.
"Yes..." She smiled. "Now it's time for a history lesson... About forty years ago Darkness was rising to power. Me and the other Gifted Six Members had to defend the biggest magical village in the world. Many lives were lost, but finally we defeated him. The way defeated Darkness was the same way you two did. We created a ball of all elements and blasted him with it. Darkness swore that he'd be back for revenge, that we'd regret not joining him. That's why he attacked the Academy. Because I lead the school, Soren teaches, and the other four live in the village."
"Soren was a member of the Gifted Six?" Asked Ella.
"In deed." Nicole answered. "Brace your self we're about to..."
The limo smashed into a cliff and then we were driving through a thick forest once again. We drove for a few more minutes before coming to the Academy. The three of us got out of the limo just as three more rolled up. Out of the first limo came Denen and Brennen. Out of the second came Haley, and then Aira came out of the last.
"Jaxon! Ella!" Aira greeted hugging us both.
"Welcome all of you to the second year of your education." Mrs. Nicole announced smiling at us six. "This year you'll be partaking in Elemental Duels, you'll also be aloud to enter in the Ultimate Capture the Flag."
"What Ultimate Capture the Flag?" Asked Haley.
"It a game of capture the flag that can sometimes last for up to a week!" Mrs. Nicole explained. "The shortest one we've had lasted three days, the longest was eleven days! Now I let you guys pack up, your bags are already at your dorms. See you tonight at six for the welcome feast."
I looked back into the back of the limo. Sure enough the bags were gone. I pulled Remy out from his cage and headed to the dorms.

As I neared the small gated area of the Ice dorms I noticed five first years getting a tour of the dorms. Ice was the rarest element and the biggest year was sixth with six members. My year was the second smallest after fourth year with three members. I stepped onto the porch of the dorms and opened the glass door.
"Jaxon!" I heard a familiar voice shout.
Elise coming running to greet me giving me a hug.
