It was Saturday, which meant another duel. I looked outside of my window. Rain came down sideways creating drops of rain that dribbled down the window,  pausing every few seconds.

I left for the arena twenty minutes later. The rain was still pouring down, harder then before, something that I thought impossible. Wind blew the orange and gold leaves off the trees, the leaves dancing in the wind to the music of the wind howling. The arena came into view; its stone walls rising tall into the canapes of the pine trees. The arena reminded me of a smaller version of the Colosseum in Rome, used for duels and battles against lions and tigers.

I entered the arena through the massive wooden doors, and followed a crowd of second and third years to the boys change room.  There I got changed into the black outfit with the light blue streaks.

"Welcome everyone to the second Elemental Duel of the year!" I heard Mrs. Nicole yell to the audience. "First up we have Aira Finch and Violet Drew." A screen turned on and I watched Aira and a blond haired girl step into the arena.

My name was called seven matches in. "Jaxon Hill and James Scott." Of course I was facing James. I stepped into the waiting room. Each side of the wall lit up. 3, 2, 1. The screen signalled and the door slid open. Stepping forward I raised my hands, the rain pelting against me. James ran towards me, balls of Ice forming in his hands. I closed my eyes and focused. I heard the rain, and James steps getting closer. My strength fully realized, I opened my eyes to see James ten feet away. He sent Ice blasting towards me, I dodged it and sent a blast at him, missing him by a hair. Before he could restore his power, I sent another blast at him. The blast hit him in the stomach sending him crashing to the ground. James sent a blast of Ice towards me hitting me in the shoulder. I skidded to the ground, my left shoulder prickling with coldness. James got up and ran towards me forming a sword of ice in his hand. As he approached, he brought his sword down directly towards me. I raised my hand quickly. The sword hit my hands as Ice created pure power in them. James went flying back almost touching the wall. Quickly, I got up and formed a sword in my hand. James and I ran towards each other. As we neared each other, we both crashed our swords one against the other. James dropped his sword purposely and grabbed my arm. My arm started prickling with coldness. He was freezing my arm! My arm went numb and I dropped my sword. James raised his fist, glowing with ice, and sucker punched me in the face.

I flew to the ground. James turned around raising his arms in triumph, but I wasn't down. I stood up slowly, his attention still on the crowd. Closing my eyes I imagined the rain freezing. I opened my to eyes to find the rain frozen like icicles. James turned around to look at me. "Never turn your back on an opponent!" I advised him and smashed my hands together. The frozen rain flew towards James hitting him in all directions. James's attention diverted by the icicles, I created a wall of ice in front of him. I pushed the wall forward forcing James back towards the walls. As he was pushed into the wall the icicles stopped pelting him, and I knew I had won.

Later that day, I was walking with Rose away from the cafeteria, when I saw John and Ella holding hands walking behind us. Quickly I pulled Rose around the corner jealousy controlling my actions. As John and Ella turned the corner I pushed my lips against Roses. I felt something. A spark in my heart, I was kissing Rose. But that spark was nothing compared to the blaze that roared in my heart when I had kissed Ella.

Rose drew back, staring into my eyes. "Jaxon?" She questioned. "What was that." I walked backwards, John and Ella now gone. "I-I-" I started. But Rose walked towards me and kissed me forcefully on the lips.

Rose and I continued walking through the forest to the water dorms. I waved Rose good-bye as I continued walking towards the Ice dorms.

Later that night I stared at my ceiling, thoughts rushing through my head. Why had I kissed Rose? I mean sure, I had feelings towards her last year, but I thought I was over her, I wanted to be with Ella, and Ella only. Jealousy. The only word that crept into my head. But I wasn't jealous of John and Ella. I mean sure Ella was beautiful, kind, smart, funny; but I was over her... And if I wasn't, then, I was now.

The rain continued going through the night. I knew this cause I couldn't fall asleep. Thoughts of Ella and Rose kept interrupting my determination to fall asleep. Finally I gave up and decided to go to the waterfall. I pulled on my shoes and a sweater and made my way out of the dorms. The sky lit up from lightning and I saw a silhouette moving away from the Ice dorms.

Curiously, I followed the body into the forest, thunder rumbling from the lightning. I followed the body deeper and deeper into the forest until it was so dense that the rain seamed to disappear. We kept walking until we came to a clearing. I hid behind a tree as I heard voices talking.

"I-I'm sorry." I heard Johns voice say. "I will, I just need to get them together. That kid Jaxon isn't talking to anyone but this Rose girl."

"And why is that?" Boomed a deep voice.

"I'm not sure..." Stuttered John.

"Get them together. Or else you can say bye to your mothers cure."
