I woke up early on Saturday. My covers had fallen off my bed and it was colder then usual. Clicking the on button on my phone, I accessed the weather app to find that it was -2°. I walked across the cold wooden floors to my window. My jaw dropped as I noticed there was no rain, no leaves, no grass. A world of white spread out in front of me like a blanket covering the ground. The trees were skeletons, no leaves left on them at all, they were blown off in last nights storm. My phone dinged. Looking at my phone I found out the duels were cancelled today due to the snow. I smiled. It's not that I didn't want to duel, it was that I didn't want to hurt someone again. James hadn't been hurt that badly. Piercing the person that is your ex-best friend really doesn't help the whole situation. James had intentionally tripped me yesterday morning, and 'accidentally' smacked me in the face on Wednesday.

I thought back to last year. This time last year Scarlett was still alive, James and everyone else weren't mad at me, and Ella and I were still together. Closing my eyes, I felt a tear drop sliding down my cheek. It wasn't that I was sad, I just needed to cry. Everything from John to Ella was just to overwhelming. If I didn't prove to Ella and the others that John wasn't who he said he was I would be an anti-social person with only one friend; Rose.

I got dressed and headed out into the snowy world. A pleasant chill went down my spine. I was strongest now. As I headed into the forest towards waterfall, snow started falling from the heavens landing peacefully on the pine trees. As I neared the water fall I notice a small white hare jumping around. I sat down on a log under a willow tree watching the hare jumping back and forth. I closed my eyes and opened them again. A white throne room appeared in front of me. I looked down at my clothes, I was in white jeans and a white t-shirt. Light sat up on a chair looking down on me from a raised platform.

"Jaxon." smiled Light. "I know it's hard. I wish I could make everything better but I can't with out consequences."

"What type of consequences?" I asked.

"The kind that I can't tell you about." Light responded.

I closed my eyes. I knew there was no point in arguing with Light. She was after all a goddess.

"Keep going, Jaxon." she assured me. "You're almost there."

With that the world faded away and I was back in reality. I checked my phone. It was 9:00 and I was hungry. Walking back from the water fall I picked up some snow in my hands I threw it in the air and exploded it with my powers. Snow was now falling down from the white sky harder and harder. By the time I entered the school it was a full force blizzard. Shaking off the snow I headed towards the cafeteria smelling pancakes.

For the first time in a while I sat down at my usual table  beside Elise.

"Where were you this morning?" Elise asked me.

"I went for a walk." I told her.

"Oh."

I grabbed some pancakes from a serving platform ignoring James's death stare. "Thank you." I said to Elise.

"For what?" She questioned.

"For being my friend." I smiled.

We finished eating breakfast and we all headed out into the snow storm. "Snow ball fight!" yelled Sarah. Forgetting all my problems I used my powers to lift up a layer of snow. I spun it around not being able to see anyone. A silhouette appeared out of the white background and I smashed the snow into them. Denen sat up from the snow.

"Jaxon!" he yelled.
"How'd you know it was me?" I laughed.

"Your the only one who can do that." he replied.

A ball of snow flew towards me hitting me in the face. The snow stung my face as I wiped it off laughing for the first time in forever.

I sat at my desk doing my  final test. It was that time of year again. In a week and a half I would be going home. This year with all the drama, I had very little time to study for finals but I was confident I would succeed in Elemental Control. As I scribbled down my last answer about dragons the bell rung and I was dismissed out of class. Next was Elemental Control. The tests for Elemental Control consisted of seeing how well you could freeze water,  create a life like sculpture, and also compete in a duel.

As I entered the class room I sat down, John behind me. I felt something hit my head. Looking behind me I saw a piece of scrunched up paper on the floor. I picked it up

I know you were in the forest that night...

I looked behind me at John and nodded. His eyes weren't the usual dark color of green. They were faded and sad.

Soren walked into the room. "Welcome to the first test this year." he declared. "This is how it will work: I will throw water into the air and you must freeze it and turn it into a statue with the amount of water I provide." I nodded. This should be easy enough.

"First up, Sarah."

Soren picked up a jug full of water and threw it directly at Sarah. Sarah closed her eyes and froze the water successfully. She formed the ice into a decent statue of a tree.

Next was my turn. The water flew at me. Without closing my eyes I froze it and swirled it around. Imagining what I wanted the to form, the ice stopped and sure enough a sculpture of a wolf stood with its front feet on a rock.

"Impressive." Soren declared.

After the test, John and I had planned to meet up. I stood patiently in the clearing where John had talked to the stranger. Snow covered the ground of the clearing. The ground underneath the trees had little snow, the skeletal branches of the trees intercepting it.

My attention was drawn to John walking into the clearing. "What is it?" I asked. "Who were you talking with and what do you have to do?"

"I can't tell you about who I was talking to, but I can tell you what I have to do." he explained. I nodded. "I have to kill you or Ella and if I don't my mother will die."
