~Jade Simms~
Andy and I walked in the court house hand-in-hand. I carried my wallet, cigarettes, and phone in my left hand. Andy and I sat down a couple weeks ago and made some decisions about our wedding. We were getting married in the town his parents lived in. We needed our marriage licenses and decided to go ahead and get them. We weren't having a big wedding. Family, mostly.
"Hi, we're here to get our marriage licenses." Andy talked to the secretary. She pointed to a room and Andy and I walked in. A man sat in there and Andy stared at him for a second before asking, "Charles?"
"Yes?" he asked, looking up from his paperwork. I watched 'Charles' stare at my fiancé for a second before standing up. "Andy, my boy! I would recognize that face anywhere!" Charles pulled Andy into a hug and they chatted before a second.
Charles looked at me, "So, I'm guessing you and the lovely lady are here to get your marriage licenses."
"Yes sir," Andy smiled. I loved Andy's smile when he was at home. Here he truly was happy.
"Well," Charles sat down and his belly poked out, "introduce me, be a gentleman."
"This is my beautiful fiancée, Jade. Love, this is family friend, Charles," I smiled and pulled Jade into my side.
Charles typed a few things on his computer, "Well, I'm going to need certification. Drivers licenses, birth certificates, etc."
I pulled mine and Andy's licenses. He checked them and handed them back. He looked at both of our records on his computer. We waited patiently and then, Charles frowned.
"What's wrong?" Andy asked.
Charles scratched his chin. "Jade, right?"
I nodded nervously and Charles said, "Um, it says here, Andy, that you already have a marriage history."
"What?"
"It says you married a girl named Juliet Simms in Los Angeles September fifth last year," he muttered.
Andy's jaw dropped to the floor. "I- I what?"
"You don't remember?" Charles asked carefully.
Andy stumbled back and sat down. "N-no. I must've been drunk..."
I cleared my throat and exchanged a glance with Andy before walking out, tears forming in my eyes. I looked at the secretary. "Where's the bathroom?"
She pointed to her right and I walked in there.

I walked out of the courthouse. I would get Jade later. I dialed Juliet's number and brought the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" she asked.
I spoke quickly, "We're married. We're getting a divorce. I'll mail you papers."
"What?"
"Did you hear me?" I asked.
"I- yeah, I heard you Andy."
"You realize Jade and I are engaged. I want to marry her. I love her and I don't love you. I want to divorce and I want to do it now."
"Thanks," she grumbled. "I'll call you later, asshat."
She hung up and I ran my fingers through my hair.-At Home-
"Andy, it can take years for a divorce to be final," Jade sighed.
I laid back on the bed, "I know. I don't know what to do."
"Well, we'll just have to wait it out."
"It's such a long time."
"I know, but if we love each other like we say we do, we'll get through it."
I sighed.
"Hey," Jade whispered. "We can do this."
"You're upset," I said.
"No-"
I cut her off, "Jade, honey, I know you. I know you're upset. I'm so sorry. You finally get something good and it gets ruined."
Tears welled up in her eyes and one by one the fell. "She ruins everything. I try so hard to love her because she's done so much for me, but damn, everything good ends up bad because of her."
"Come here."
I pulled Jade into my arms and thought of what we were going to do. We sat in my old room and all I wished is that my mom was still here to help me through this.
