It was awkward by the time they got back in the room. Psyche was overwhelmed of that surprising kiss and she couldn't act that everything was fine. She glanced at Eros who was walking towards the bed and got slight mad on how he was being cool with it.
It wasn't her first kiss. She has kissed plenty of guys in her teenage years, she just didn't had her first kiss with Eros. And among all the kisses she had done, that kiss affected her the most. It wasn't some passionate kiss even. It was just a lip lock elementary-like fashion way of kiss where they play 7 seconds inside a closet.
"I bet Carmen's all jealous now." She said. She has to say something or the awkward silence is going to suffocate her any minute.
"Hm? I guess." He said before going inside the showers.
She let her weight dragged her down to the sofa and buried her face on her hands. "What is wrong with me?" Just-stop beating so crazy, heart! You don't get excited with a kiss like that. She touched her lips and began to calm herself down. That was nothing.
Getting in her favorite PJ's, some flared knit pants and some white tanks, she was ready to go to bed. She passed by Eros, who was at the floor reading some texts.
"Good night." She said, slipping on the sheets.
"Night." He replied.
Then there was silence between them again in which Psyche noticed that it has been happening more often ever since they have arrived in the island.
"Hello? Lillian-" Eros answered a phone call and at the same time, sits up and looked at Psyche. Psyche heard her mother's name and looked at Eros too wondering why her mother decided to call her that night. "-Yeah. She's with me." He handed the phone to Psyche. "Your mom."
"What is it, mom?" She answered, getting off the bed and went to the balcony.
"Psyche, honey. How are you there?"
"I'm fine. Everything's fine. Why?"
"Well, I just heard that your-your father is in the island." She said, slowly as if trying not to hurt her daughter. But, all those years her daughter learned how to be numb.
"Oh? Yeah. I saw him. We even had lunch."
"Really?" Psyche was rather amused that her mother was surprised.
" Yep. On one table along with her new wife. Together with Eros and a couple we made friends here." She said calmly.
"Oh. You're not upset?"
"Upset?" She scoffed. "Oh I am furious, mom. Just to see that man for years? He was lucky I was able to control myself or I could have stabbed him with my knife. I'm just glad Eros was there to stop me." She said, her voice started to rise while gripping the railings.
Her mother went silent for a while. "Why are you being quiet now, mom?"
"i just-nothing dear."
"Do you have anything to say anymore? I'm tired."
"N-nothing. Good night, dear."
"Yeah." She ended the call and stared at the moonlight for a while.
"Everything fine?" Eros went out to the balcony after listening to their conversation and couldn't help but approach Psyche.
She looked at him before looking back at the moonlight."Hm? Yeah. Yeah. You're up."
"I couldn't help but listen."
She sighed heavily. "Did I sound a bit harsh to her?"
He went beside her and leaned on the railings. "A bit. But then I understand why though. Your anger wasn't really unreasonable but then, I just thought that-well..."
