The Unexpected Happened...

You laid awake at night with Mark sleeping beside you. It's not that you weren't tired, it's just you couldn't seem to shut your mind off. Every thought just kept swirling around your mind; work, your relationship with Mark, and the fact that Sean was supposed to be arriving in America this morning to stay with Mark and you for a few days.

Despite the fact that Mark told you nothing needed to be perfect, the perfectionist in you thought otherwise. Once Sean and Mark got together, it was hard to separate the two they were that close. You had never met Sean before this day and you wanted him to like you. You knew it would mean the world to Mark if you and Sean got along.

You shot up in bed when you realised you had forgotten something at the store when you went earlier today, Potatoes! Yes, it sounds random but it really isn't. You wanted to make your mother's cheesy potatoes recipe for lunch today when he got here. You can't exactly make cheesy potatoes if you have no potatoes!

Glancing over at Mark, you saw he was still fast asleep. You quietly got out of bed and grabbed your hoodie off the foot of your bed. It was when you grabbed your car keys off the dresser that you heard Mark groan from the bed.

"What," Mark paused to yawn. "the hell are you doing? It's 2 am."

"I have to go get something from the store, I'll be right back."

"At 2 am, are you fucking insane?" You watched as he slowly sat up in bed, stretching as he did so. "Whatever it is you desperately need this early, it can wait. You don't need to be driving this early."

"I'll be fine." You told him as you rolled your eyes slightly.

"Is that before or after someone tries to rob you on the way back to your car? No offense Y/N, but you're not exactly built to defend yourself." You turned around to glare at him. Sure, you may have very little muscle on you and you may not be the tallest person in the world but you could handle yourself.

"Look, tell me what is you need and I'll go get it. I, at least, stand a better chance." You walked towards the edge of the bed to get a closer look at Mark.

"No, stay." You insisted as you pushed him back onto the bed slightly. "You have to get up early to get Sean at the airport, you need the sleep. Nothing's going to happen to me, I'll be right back." Mark sat there on the bed, staring at you for quite some time. You didn't know how long it was before Mark sighed.

"You're not going to give up on this are you?" He chuckled when you shook your head. "Sometimes, dating someone as stubborn as you is a pain in the ass. Alright, I won't try and stop you." Mark lifted himself up slightly to kiss your cheek before letting himself flop back down onto the bed.

"Text me when you get there, and when you're on your way home." You picked up your wallet and started walking towards the door as he spoke to you.

"Alright, dad!" You left before you could hear Mark's sarcastic reply. It was a bag of potatoes, you'd be back before you knew it.

You know how you said grabbing a bag of potatoes would be an easy task? Man, you never realised how wrong you would be. For whatever reason, the store was beyond packed. Never did you think Walmart would be packed at almost 3 am. Not only was that your only issue but the fact you practically had to fight an older woman just to grab the last bag of potatoes. All in All, you're just glad to be out of that place.

You had just texted Mark, telling him you left the store. As aggravating as the whole thing was with Mark, it was touching how much he cared about you. The fact that he didn't want you to go out this late showed how much he cared about you.
