(A few weeks later, back to your's POV)

Since that you had almost gotten raped, everything had been different. You're not exaggerating when you say that. At the insistence of Mark, you started seeing a counselor, not that you would talk about much at all.

After you were released from the hospital, there was tension between you and Mark. Can anyone really be blamed in this situation, though? You just went through that horrifying experience and wanted your space, Mark was more than willing to give it to you. You could tell by the look in his eyes that he wanted to just hold you close and tell you that everything was going to be ok, but both of you knew it was going to happen anytime soon.

It's also been weeks since you've slept next to Mark at night. When Mark objected saying that 'He would protect you, and that he would never hurt you', you almost laughed out loud. Of course, Mark would never harm you, and he would protect you, physically. You knew he wouldn't be able to protect you from the nightmares that are a nightly occurrence. Besides, as much as he told you that you weren't being a bother and that there's nothing he'd rather do than take care of you, you thought otherwise.

You thought about it at moments like these, laying in the guest bed at night, trying to fall asleep without the nightmares rushing to your mind. Glancing over at the bedside clock, you noticed that it's was 2:30 am. Damn, you'd normally have been asleep by now.

In an attempt to try and fall asleep, you closed your eyes and turned on your side. You doubted you would actually get some sleep, but it was worth a shot.

It was a dark night, much like the night he tried to rape you. Everything was a mirror image from that night; the same alley, the same dim lighting, hell the air even had the same stale smell of cigars and cheap liquor. One thing was different, and it's what you were wearing. Instead of wearing the tight black dress, all you wore was some sort of red, silk robe with the essential undergarments beneath it.

Despite the chill that surrounded you, you were exceptionally warm. Just as you started to question what was going on, you felt some sort of presence behind you. It wasn't long after that when you began to feel someone's hot breath on the back of your neck, making your hair stand up on end. Your body was rigid with tension as you were afraid of what was going to happen next.

You didn't have wonder about that much longer because before you knew it, whoever was behind you had pushed against your shoulder blades, throwing you down towards the ground. A sharp pain came from your face as it collided with the hard concrete of the alleyway.

This mysterious figure grabbed your forearm and whipped you around to face him. You weren't able to see what this figure looked like because all you saw a black, shadow-like mass towering over you.

The shadow reached out and grasped the belt of the silk robe. You whimpered as the shadow played with the belt for a few seconds. Eventually, the belt slowly started to come undone. If you were able to see the mysterious figure's eyes, you knew that there would be a menacing look within them.

The silk robe slowly fell open, revealing your bra and underwear to the shadow. A wisp of wind shot by, and you could have sworn it sounded like an evil cackle of sorts. A trail of goosebumps followed the figure's finger as he ran his middle finger down your bare stomach. You shut your eyes as tight as they would go, praying that this would all go away. You prayed that you would wake up from this nightmare, and everything would be ok. Sadly, though, the gut feeling inside of you knew that it wouldn't be the case.

Tears slowly started streaming down your face as the finger that was running down your stomach began going lower. You knew it was a nightmare, but it felt so much like reality. Why, oh why couldn't this pain just stop?

Finally, you let out an ear-piercing scream, and that's when the darkness slowly overtook your vision.

(Mark's POV)

I shot up from bed when I heard a scream pierce the silence that had settled in the house. What could that even be? Just as I started to brush the scream aside, the screams came back, louder than before. The minute I listened closely, I knew who it was, Y/N.

"Shit," I mumbled under my breath before launching myself out of bed. In record timing, I ran down the stairs and towards the guest room by the garage. Y/N's screaming had dulled down to intense whimpering by the time I had flung the door open.

Y/N's small form was twisting back and forth on the bed as whimpering came from her mouth. Even from where I was standing, I could see the tears that were making their way down her face at an alarming rate. It shattered my heart to watch her be in this pain, so I did the only thing I could think of doing.

I rushed towards the bed, carefully climbing onto it so I didn't hurt Y/N as she tossed and turned. Without another thought, I managed to gather her up in my arms.

"Y/N, it's ok. I'm here everything's ok, it's just a nightmare." I whispered soothingly as I wrapped my arms around her before bringing her as tightly towards my chest as I could.

Y/N began to slightly thrash around in my grasp as she shouted, "No! Get away from me!" She was still having the nightmare.

"It's me, Mark. I'm not going to hurt you. It's ok, nothing's going to hurt you." The whimpering continued to come from Y/N, but she stopped thrashing around in my arms.

"It's alright, I'm here." I did my best to comfort her as I slowly began to run my hand up and down her arm. It took a few minutes, but eventually the whimpering began to stop.

"There you go, everything's alright. I'm here for you." Her small body began to shake as I held her closer to me. I didn't know if it was because of the nightmare or she was just cold, either way, I pulled her even closer towards me and tightened the grasp I had around her.

"See? The nightmare's over, your back to the real world. They can't hurt you." For the first time since she had gotten out of the hospital, I leaned forward and brushed my lips against her forehead.

"It.. was terrible. He-" She started to tell me with her wavering voice but I stopped her by gently placing my finger against her cold lips.

"Don't talk about it right now, ok? You can tell me when you're ok. For the meantime, let me just hold you ok?" Y/N didn't give a verbal response, but I felt her nod her head as she burrowed her face into my chest.

"You don't know how much I've missed this," I whispered quietly as I now rubbed comforting circles into her back.

"No matter the distance you put between us because of what happened, I'll always be here for you. I promise you, that will get through this together." I placed another kiss against her forehead after saying that.

I know that Y/N may not believe it right now, but we're going to face this storm, together.
