This Imagine is based off the song Woman Up by Meghan Trainor, enjoy!
You sat on your bed as you slid your favorite heels onto your feet. It had been a while since you had gone out so you decided to go all out. Besides, these heels are made you feel strong AND they gave you 3 inches to your short frame!
Once the heels were securely placed on your feet, you stood up from the bed to face yourself in the mirror. Y/C/E were still puffy from the crying you had done for a better part of half of the day. It's not that you couldn't stop crying because you did, several times in fact. The problem was that it had been exactly 1 month since your boyfriend Mark walked out on you.
He never gave any sort of explanation, didn't even give an excuse for why he was leaving. You had come from shopping that day to a note Mark left taped to the fridge.
'I'm sorry, but I just can't'
You've kept the note all this time for whatever reason. Something about the note that's plagued your mind since you found was the last sentence; 'I just can't'. What couldn't Mark just do? That sentence did nothing for the part of your brain that always needed to know what was going on no matter what the situation was.
Like a normal breakup with someone you truly loved, your heart was shattered. You could go into specifics, but it can all be summed up with you didn't leave your house unless you absolutely had to, until today.
Your best friend Ryan, after seeing your rat nest of hair and Cheeto-dust stained fingers, he insisted that you go out to the bar with him for his birthday.
Which is why you were currently standing in your room with wearing black heels, dark skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a black leather jacket. This was your time. Ryan coming over had shaken you out of the heartbroken stupor you put yourself in after Mark left. It wasn't your fault that he left, besides it's his loss! Yes, you were in love with the guy, but you were independent before you met him! There's no reason you couldn't go back to that once he left!
As you stared at yourself in the mirror, you saw there was something you were missing but you couldn't quite place it. A ha, mascara and lipstick, duh! Besides, maybe your seemingly long black lashes and bright red lips would take people's attention off of the dark circles under your eyes.
Once your makeup was put on, you felt like the confident person you had been before all of this. You grabbed your phone and purse before exiting your house, actually excited for what this night might hold.
(A few hours later)
You had been at the bar for several hours with Ryan, and your mind had been completely cleared of Mark. Whether you knew it at the start of the day or not, this was something you needed. It was time that you finally forgot about Mark and moved on with your life. By the way he hadn't made any effort to contact you, you figured Mark had moved on as well.
You and Ryan sat at the bar counter, recounting old stories from your childhood. You had forgotten how much fun Ryan was to be around. If you didn't think of him as your older brother, you would have dated him a long time ago.
As you were in the process of getting another Corona from the bartender, Ryan had cleared his throat. "Y/N I hate to break up the happy mood you're in, which I'm glad you're in, but I spoke to- you know who a few days a go-" That's right, you had almost forgotten that Ryan was super close to Mark. "He asked about you.."
"Let him ask about me," You said, an almost snarky tone appearing your voice. "If he wanted to talk to me, he could have picked up his damn cell phone and actually called me."
"And that's what I told him!" Ryan exclaimed before taking a sip of his drink. "He misses you Y/N."
"You show someone you miss them by not contacting them at all? Must have missed that fucking memo."
"Mark's one of my closest friends, next to you of course. What he did to you was unacceptable and you and I both know that it will take a lot more than a simple apology to get back in your good graces, mine too." We both found ourselves chuckling slightly.
"Can I be honest with you Ryan?" He nodded. "I think that all of this is for the best. Maybe him not contacting me is a sign that I just need to move on with my life. I just need to keep my head up, and keep on walking." Ryan smiled at you, as if he had been waiting for you to say that the entire night.
"You know I'll stand behind you on whatever decision you make." Before you could respond, an upbeat song came through the speakers on the bar.
Put your favorite heels on
'Cause they make you feel strong
When you're lookin' good
You know you're gonna have a good time
Don't forget mascara
And to keep your head up
Like Madonna would
Rub her lipstick redder than wineYou found yourself smiling. Maybe it was time that you moved on, and 'Womaned Up'.
