Here's the sad imagine that everyone requested (but my best friend, but we won't mention that ;) . Hope it puts everyone's' feels to the test!
(Two Years Ago)
"How many times do I have to tell you, Molly, I refuse to go on a date with a guy I don't know, not to mention you don't even know him!" You exasperatedly told your friend as the two of you sat at the diner. It was a Thursday night tradition between the two of you. You'd go to the local diner in town, order milkshakes, and talk about all the gossip that's gone down since last Thursday.
Tonight was different, though. Tonight was the night that Molly decided to tell you she had signed you up for an online dating app. Not only that, but she had scheduled a date for you on your behalf for tonight at the same diner!
"Oh come Y/N, live a little!"
"Living a little would be trying a new food or buying a dress that would draw attention to certain attributes I possess, this is insane!"
"If it helps in anyway, I checked him out for a solid five minutes before arranging the date." You couldn't help but roll your eyes at your best friend.
"Oo, five minutes! Cause that makes all the difference in the world!"
"I'm being serious here Y/N. You need to get out a little more. You haven't really been out with anyone since the whole Tra-" Molly cut herself off once she noticed you had been giving her the death stare. She knew you didn't like talking about your ex-boyfriend Trace.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm perfectly fine with being alone for the rest of my life! Besides, all a girl really needs in life is her best friend!" With a smile on your face, you stood up from your chair as you grabbed your jacket in the process.
"Flattery won't get you out of this!"
"Sure it will!" You called back to her, making your way towards the front door. As you crossed the threshold of the door, you bumped into someone. As ashamed as you are to say this, you didn't apologize. You just wanted to get out of that diner and back to your cozy little home. If you hurried, you could still catch the new episode of Young and Hungry on tonight!
A deep male voice sounded behind you just as you had made it outside.
"Leaving our date so soon?" What the- how did this guy know about your blind- wait a minute. Turning around, you saw a man, roughly six feet standing a few inches from you. "You are Y/N right?" The man asked you, a smile on his face. "I'm Mark by the way. Sorry about my manners, I tend to forget them around pretty girls."
Ok, this guy was cocky has hell, anyone could see that. But you'd be lying if you said that the smile on his face and the raspiness of his voice hadn't made you weak at the knees.
"Come sit down with me, I drove a whole- ten minutes to this diner just to see you." With that comment, you found yourself turning back around. Eh, Young and Hungry could wait. That's what DVR's were invented for anyway.
(One Year Ago)
That Mark you went on a blind date with? It wasn't long after that blind date that he had become your boyfriend. Things progressed quickly between the two of you; within the first few months, the two of you had already moved in together. You were ok with it, though, you loved Mark.
You were currently sitting at home in your shared apartment. While Mark was at the store getting you the strawberry ice cream you had requested, you sat in the office using his laptop. He was letting you use it to work on a presentation for work.
You closed out of everything, wanting to take a break. Who would ever think that spending 45 minutes working on a powerpoint would make you want to slam your head against the wall! Just as you gotten up from the desk chair, an email notification popped up on the computer.
Normally you weren't the type of person to snoop, but the curious side of you had taken over. You allowed your eyes to glance over the notification.
'Last Night was fun. Hope we can do it again some time ;)'
You had to read the message several times to make sure you were looking at what you thought you were looking at. The email was from some chick named 'Kristin'. Who the hell was she, and what kind of fun had they had last night?! The hopeful side of you prayed that she was talking about a collab they had done. Deep down inside, though, you knew that it wasn't it.
Without thinking, you grabbed your car keys that were sitting on the desk in front of you. You then proceeded to exit the home, not looking back the entire time.
You slammed the door closed at your new apartment, stretching out your neck in the process. After leaving Mark and the shared apartment, you not only moved to a different part of town but proceeded to work more hours than you ever had. After taking a few days to calm down, you confronted Mark about the email. After a few hours of browbeating the answer out of him, Mark fessed up; he had cheated on you.
He told you that yes, it started out as a collab with Kristin. One of the challenges involved quite a bit of drinking and he said one thing just led to another. You refused to hear him out after it.
Your feet dragged behind you as you made your way towards the bedroom for a much-needed nap. On your way, your voicemail machine buzzed, notifying you of a new message before proceeding to play the message.
"Y/N, it's Mark. Look, I know you don't want to talk to me, and after what I did to you 6 months ago, I wouldn't talk to me either. I know I've told you this a countless number of times but it was a stupid fucking mistake, ok? I should never have started drinking with her, much less even gone that far with her. I can't imagine how much I've disappointed you but I want you back! I want us back Y/N! I just want things to go back to the way they were, but I know there's a fat chance in hell that will happen." You could hear Mark sigh on the other end as his voice cracked.
"Please, call me back when you get this Y/N. I love you." The machine beeped, letting you know the message was done. Tears had streamed down your face as you stared at the machine. You hadn't heard his voice in months. It made you cry at the sound of it.
With your eyes set on the ground, you plodded your way towards your bed. You now knew the much-needed nap would involve you crying yourself to sleep.
You thought about all of this as you stood across the diner where all of this began, watching Mark with his arms around some girl. Whoever it was, it must be a new girlfriend. You knew because the look in Mark's eyes is the same look he would get when he told you that he loved you.
This was another door closed in life. You just wished that you could've kept this one open.
