Castiel sat in the back of his third hour class. He was bored and missed Dean, although he saw him everyday at home and even at school, Castiel suspected he was just becoming accustomed to having Dean next to him. The lack of his presence never failed to make Castiel feel like there was a chance he could be rejected. He didn't understand it, he knew that Dean had feelings for him, he had been the first to say so, he acted like he cared for Castiel, and he was always there. Yet Castiel still felt like it couldn't be true.

The day passed and Castiel would meet up with Dean whenever he could, which was always nice. His days were usually like that, a boring grey with glimpses of color when Dean was next to him, but today was different. It was during a passing period that Castiel didn't walk with Dean, he gazed through the crowded hallway like he did when there was nothing else to do and he saw Crowley. He couldn't stop his heart from beating faster as he quickly averted his gaze to the floor. He had never seen Crowley in the hall before. It was terrifying, the thought that he could be attacked again without Dean near him. Luckily Crowley didn't do anything, but Castiel still felt off about seeing him where he thought he could be safe. He tried to shake off the experience and walked into his next class.

The next time he was suppose to see Dean was at lunch, but before hand Dean had texted him saying that he had to stay in for a class that he needed to get his teacher to read through his project. Castiel sighed inwardly, he knew that Dean had to do what he needed to. He texted back saying that he'd see him later.

Castiel sat with Ash. They all usually ate together, Dean didn't understand a word that came from Ash's mouth, but they still enjoyed each other's company; it was good.

It almost felt like it did at the beginning of the year, just him and Ash sitting outside.

"Winchester get detention or something?" Ash asked when he sawonly Castiel.

Castiel shook his head and opened his lunch. "No, his teacher had to look over a project." Ash nodded and took out a joint. Castiel offhandedly wondered if his school knew how many kids smoked weed out here.

There was a moment of silence where Castiel had opened his sandwich and began eating it. The two of them were already used to each other's presence and the silences that came in between. Castiel was in the middle of a bite when Ash decided to speak again.

"You and Winchester are like, screwing, right?"

Castiel nearly choked on his sandwich. A blush spread across his face and he started coughing while Ash laughed.

"And that is all the answer I need, Castiel." Once he regained his normal breathing pattern Castiel looked at Ash. "I bet you're hiding like a thousand hickeys under your shirt. Something tells me your Deano likes to mark people." Castiel was shocked. Dean marking. He was getting off track.

"We haven't...he's just...we didn't..." Castiel tried to get out. Ash started laughing loudly, obviously entertained by Castiel's flustered stared. It's only a couple of hickeys, Castiel thought to himself, and they're hidden, I made sure. Castiel's hand went to the back of his collar, feeling the hem to make sure it didn't drop down too far. It's not like they never did anything, of course, they were two teenage boys with a boat load of hormones, but it never extended past heated make outs and wandering hands.

It was always amazing in Castiel's opinion.

"You haven't tapped that?" Ash asked, suddenly serious. Castiel shook his head hoping his confusion showed. "Do you have a problem?" Ash asked. "Poor stamina? Bad gag reflex?"

"Ash."

The other boy gasped. "Erectile dysfunction?"

"Ash!"

Ash squinted at him. "What is it then?" Castiel shrugged.

"Full house, Preoccupied. He has his brother and his uncle in the house all the time. God, Sam's walked in on us just making out, knowing our luck he'd barge in the second we get our clothes off." Ash laughed again.

"I don't think you understand how hilarious that is." Castiel groaned in response and angrily returned to eating his sandwich. Ash paused as if in thought, then he gave a short chuckle. Castiel looked over, trying to see if her could tell what was so funny. Ash just shook his head. He took a drag from his joint and extended it to Castiel, who waved him off. Ash just shrugged.

"How are you're brothers by the way?" Ash asked. Castiel shrugged. He hadn't really talked to anyone about what was going on with his family. It was really only Dean, Bobby, and Sam that knew... well, them, and of course the judge, lawyers, the foster families, and others connected to the case. No one at his school knew, he didn't want pity or judgment. Al he really wanted was for things to be normal.

"They're fine. Balthazar's not failing psych anymore, which is good. Oh, and Gabe just told me he thinks he's bi. You'll never believe who he's crushing on." Castiel decide to leave out some of the details of his past, but Ash was still trust worthy.

"Who?" Ash asked, he had a smile gracing his lips as he took another drag of his joint.

"Sam." Castiel said. Ash laughed.

"The little Winchester?" Ash questioned. Castiel nodded his head. "Oh my god, it has to be the hair." He laughed again. "Dude, seriously, it's some nice hair." Castiel chuckled.

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Wait, wasn't Gabe dating that other chick? The foreign one. What's her name?"

"Kali."

"Yeah."

"They broke up."

"No shit?"

"Yeah."

"That's weird. What would happen if they got together, lived happily, then they chose to get married, but you and Dean also got married. Would that be illegal? Like step-siblings, and you guys would be related, but like not by blood." Castiel stared at Ash.

"Yeah...I don't- I don't know, buddy. How much pot did you smoke by the way?" Ash shrugged. "Okay." Castiel thought Ash was acting more...high? He didn't even know if that was the right word to describe how he was acting.

"You know what's even more weird?" Castiel shook his head. "It's theorized that time changes speed depending on how fast you move relative to something else, right?" Castiel nodded his head.

"Yeah, theory of relativity."

"Yeah, so if somebody were to travel at the speed of light continuously they would age slower than someone on earth of the same age. I don't know what that means, though." Castiel was confused.

"Are you okay, Ash?" Castiel asked.

"I'm fine." Castiel stared at Ash. He was about to say something, but was interrupted by the sound of the bell ringing.

"Listen, Ash, I think you should go home, okay. A teacher is going to suspect something if you go back in." He looked at Ash again. "Do you understand?" He asked. Ash nodded. "Okay. I have to go now. I'll see you tomorrow." Ash nodded and waved. Castiel stood up and walked back inside. He really hoped Ash obeyed his wishes. Getting caught for skipping was better than getting caught for smoking weed on the school premises.

After that things were back to normal. The only thing odd about the rest of the day was when Castiel was going back to the impala. He got a text from Ash, which was odd because Ash always said that texting was stupid and preferred calling for even the smallest thing. The text was only two words:

I'm sorry.
