Castiel and Dean had ended up watching television with Gabe and Sam. The younger brothers ended up retiring some time afterwards saying they had homework to do. Castiel had mentioned to Dean that they also had homework, but Dean said that it could wait. Castiel didn't want to start either, so he ended up just staying with Dean.
Castiel had his head on Dean's shoulder, and Dean had his arm wrapped around Castiel. It's nice to be able to have him this close, Castiel thought, and it was. It was cold enough inside the house were Castiel felt like he wanted a blanket, but Dean's arm around him gave him enough warmth instead. Not to mention it was Dean next to him. Dean Winchester, the Dean Winchester that was thought to be straight, but in a wild turn of events kissed Castiel, saying that he was just as confused about his sexual orientation as Castiel was.
Castiel was in the middle of thinking about how much he loved Dean (from the big things to the little nothings Castiel had noticed over the past few weeks), when there was a knock at the door. Dean groaned, moving his hand to Castiel's head, rubbing a tuff of hair between his forefinger and thumb.
"I really don't want to go answer that. Do you think they'll leave if we do nothing?" Dean asked with a smile, peering down at Castiel. Castiel looked up.
"Maybe." Another knock came at the door. It was harsher and sounded almost desperate. "Actually, you should probably get that." Dean groaned again, then pressed a kiss to the top of Castiel's head, and stood up.
"Yeah, it might be Bobby. He's locked himself out before." Dean laughed and Castiel gave a smile.
Castiel was listening to Dean's steps as he left the television room and went to the front door. There was another impatient knocking and Castiel heard Dean mumble that he was coming. Castiel recognized the squeaking of the front door and then there was another unfamiliar sound which wasn't all that unfamiliar, but more unexpected. Was that shouting? Castiel turned around, trying to get a look at what Dean was doing. Then there was another yell. Castiel jumped up and ran over to the front door.
"Dean?" He questioned, stopping at the front of the door.
And then he saw him.
"Michael?"
Dean had one of his arms outstretched, blocking Michael from coming in. Once Castiel's brother had his eyes on him he shoved Dean away, pushing him into the door, making him stumble. Castiel wanted to run up to him and ask if he was alright, but couldn't because he was frozen in pure shock. Micheal grabbed a hold of the front of Castiel's shirt, taking him off of his feet and slamming him against a wall.
"Did you think I wouldn't find you?" Michael sneered. "Did you think you could run off to your little boyfriends house with my brothers?" Castiel saw Dean stand up, he could tell he was about to come over. "You're such a fucking pussy, Castiel. Look at you. Look at your face. Did you get your fucking ass kicked? Of course you did. And you think you can take care of my brothers better than me?" That set him off more than anything.
"At least I'm not hitting them. At least they're happy." Castiel returned, trying to add a faux courage into his voice. He didn't think he was all that successful with it though.
Dean was at them now, beginning to tug Michael off of Castiel with pleas of, "Stop, please! Don't hurt him!" and "Just leave!" Michael of course, didn't budge. Castiel tried to pry one hand off and Dean was on the other one. After a while he was free and him and Dean stumbled away from Michael. That was the time Balthazar decided to come in. He took one look at the whole scene and instantly paled. He had wide eyes that honed in on Castiel.
"Cassie?"
He sounded younger than he actually was. He stood across from Castiel and Dean, with Michael in the middle.
"Balthazar, go to Gabe's room. Just wait there, okay?" Balthazar's eyes were still wide, but he nodded and turned to run. Michael was on him quickly though, taking his wrist in his hand and pulling Balthazar toward him. Castiel moved toward them instinctively and Dean was right beside him.
"Michael!" Castiel yelled. "Get away from him!" Castiel was only focused on separating his brothers. He was pulling and yanking Michael away from Balthazar, hoping to force them apart. Dean was there helping too, and Balthy was pulling his arm back, and Michael was shouting at Castiel, telling him that he couldn't take his brothers away from him.
When Balthazar got his arm free Castiel pushed him toward where Gabriel and Sam were.
"Balthazar go do as I said." Castiel ordered with a stern voice, holding Michael back. Balthazar ran off to get his younger brother.
Dean and Castiel stepped back, blocking the way Balthazar ran in. Michael growled at them.
"Michael, just leave. You're not getting Balthazar or Gabriel. You shouldn't have had us for as long as you did."
"They're my brothers!"
"It was abuse, Michael!"
Castiel had gotten his voice louder than before. Dean seemed surprised, as was Castiel.
"So what? You're just gonna act like a fucking pushover and let your boyfriend protect you. How can you take care of my brothers when you can't even stand up to me without this asshole?" He has a point there, how can I protect them? Before Castiel could retaliate Dean started talking.
"He's not a pushover and he doesn't have stand up to you alone-"
"God, you two are so fucking gay."
"Yeah, we are." Dean answered. For a second Michael paused in shock, then a disgusted expression crossed his face and he stepped away from them.
"God's going to punish you Castiel." That was expected.
Either one of them were going to respond when they heard a gun cocking behind them. Castiel and Dean turned around. Bobby was standing there, shotgun in hand.
"I'm going to ask you politely to leave, son." He spoke to Michael. Dean dragged Castiel to stand on the other side of Bobby so they were out of its sight.
"Oh, you're going to shoot me?" Michael asked. Castiel was glaring at him, realizing that he had a bleeding lip and scratches up and down his arms. He deserves it.
"No, I'm gonna shoot you so full of rock salt that you'll be shitting margaritas for weeks." Michael looked taken aback. He was probably wondering if Bobby would actually shoot him. Castiel thought he would, especially if it was only rock salt. He took one glance at Dean and knew that his suspicions were most likely correct.
Michael must've assumed Bobby wasn't all bark and no bite, because he backed off, an evil snarl on his face.
"This isn't over Castiel. I'll get my brothers back." Castiel didn't answer. He isn't going to fucking touch them ever again.
"I think I decide when it's over." Bobby said, raising his shotgun. Michael shook his head and went off to his car. Castiel didn't let out a single breath till he heard the sound of the engine driving away.
Bobby put the gun down and looked at Castiel and Dean.
"You boys alright?" They nodded.
"Thank you." Castiel told Bobby. The man nodded and said it was no problem. He walked away and Castiel turned to check on his brothers.
When he opened the door he saw Gabriel and Sam gripping each other's hands with scared expressions plastered on their faces. Balthazar was next to them and when he saw Castiel walk in he jumped up and hugged Castiel.
"Is he gone?" He asked. Castiel told him he was. Then Gabriel joined them.
"I was scared." Gabe told Castiel.
"Hey, hey. It's okay. I told you guys he wasn't going to take you, and he won't, I'll make sure of it."
