Taking The Bus

Roxie was at the bus stop waiting for the bus to arrive. She needed to go to the mall to do some shopping. The bus was coming. She waved at the bus. The bus stopped. She put in a dollar fifty and sat down.

The bus made a few stops for other people that needed a ride. A man was about to come on but he had a cigarette in his mouth. No smoking on the bus was permitted. "No smoking is allowed on the bus, Sir," said the bus driver. "Please put out your cigarette."

"I need my fix," said the man.

"You not getting on the bus until you throw that cigarette away," said the bus driver.

"Fine whatever," said the man rolling his eyes. He did what he was told and threw the cigarette away. He got on the bus and sat next to Roxie.

"Hey you got any cigarettes?" asked the man.

"Sorry I don't smoke," replied Roxie.

"You want my number?" asked the man.

"I don't even know you!" said Roxie. "Now leave me alone."

"Come on!" said the man. "What's your name?"

"I am not telling you," said Roxie.

"I said what is your name?" demanded the man.

"She says she is not telling you!" said an elderly woman.

"Was I talking to you, Grandma?" retorted the man. "Mind your own business!"

"I beg your pardon, young man, but I am not your grandmother!" said the elderly woman. "You leave that nice lady alone before I have the bus driver throw you out."

"What are you deaf?" scoffed the man. "Mind your own business!"

"Sir, please stop the bus so this uncouth man can get off!" said the elderly woman.

"Yes, Ma'am!" said the bus driver. "Your stop, pal! Get off!"

"I was going to IHOP!" protested the man. "I am going to meet someone there."

"You can walk!" barked the bus driver. "Get off my bus if you gonna keep disrespecting my passengers!"

"Can't believe I wasted a dollar fifty for this," mumbled the man. "IHOP not even that close." And he got off the bus. Then the bus driver kept on driving.

"Thanks, Ma'am!" said Roxie.

"You're welcome, dear!" chuckled the elderly woman. "That uncouth man won't bother you no more."  :)

The bus arrived at the mall, and Roxie got off. She went inside and did some shopping.
