Some people may say I'm crazy, but I stayed after school just to see all of the people applying for Summer's assistant. I told my mom I was getting some after school help. She bought it. Sat outside of Mr. Finn's room, waiting to see who came and how many. I was sitting there, working on homework and playing a drum solo with my pencils on my binder.

"Hey Freddy." Someone, who I instantly knew was Ben, said.

I looked up. "Hi." I said.

"What're you going here?" He asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Well you mentioned earlier that you didn't really know or like Summer so you're not here for her auditions...so what are you still doing at the school, it's 3:30. School ended like a half-hour ago."

I stood up to level with him. "First of all I never said that I didn't like Summer. Why would just assume something like that?" I said, angrily.

"I didn't assume anything. Zack told me that you didn't like Summer and when I asked you about her earlier today you sounded sorta disgusted. And you lied about it."

"Oh..."

He rolled his eyes, "So why are you here late?"

"Because my mom forgot to pick me up. I thought I could wait in Mr. Finn's room, but it was locked when I got here. I forgot about the auditions."

"Oh, well I hope your mom gets here soon."

"Thanks. Good luck on your audition."

"Thanks." He smiled and walked into Mr. Finn's room. I rolled my eyes and sat back on the floor. I pulled my homework back on my lap and resumed working on it.

I finished my homework but the time all the students showed up. I counted sixteen total. When they all went in, I pressed my ear up against the door to listen to what Summer was saying. She said that the students would be waiting in the hall. I quickly got up and went to the front of the school. I skateboarded home-- Ben didn't know that I skateboarded to school so it was easy to lie about not getting picked up. I skateboarded home and ran inside.

"Hi mom." I said, closing the front door behind me. She came out of the kitchen.

"Freddy, you're home! Did you get all the help you needed?"

"Yep, I'm all caught up." I smiled. My mom smiled back and went into the kitchen to finish up the dishes. I ran up to my room and pulled open my computer, since I had already finished my homework. About an hour later we ate dinner.

After dinner I went up to my room and looked up videos of cool skateboard tricks and picked a few out that I wanted to try. I ran downstairs to ask my mom if I could got to the skatepark.

"Mom!" I said, running down the stairs.

"Yes?" She asked.

"Can I go to the skatepark?"

"Freddy, you're grounded."

"But moooommm. I go finished all my homework and I have nothing else to do."

"Freddy,"

"I mean, I could always zone out on the computer and video games for the next few hours..." This excuse always cracked her.

"Fine! But be back before dark. It's 7:10 right now."

"Alright, thanks mom!" I said, grabbing my stuff and running out of the house. I skateboarded to the park and stopped right before the entrance. A familiar guy, shredding it on the ramp had a group surrounding him. I got closer only to realize that it was Ben.
