I woke up the next morning, and it was dark.
I felt around for my phone, and when I found it, I turned on the flashlight. Reece and I had fallen asleep in the movie room. I took notice of the blond boy's soft snoring and smiled, turning my flashlight off. I sent him a thank you text before getting up and walking out, sliding down the railing until I reached the floor with the bedrooms.
"No, no!" A shrill voice shrieked unhappily. I stopped in my tracks and listened.
"This isn't what I wanted at all!" The voice continued. "This is all wrong! I asked for blood red and you give me cherry red! What is this! For crying out loud, it's my birthday and this is how I'm treated?!"
"What the hell is going on?" I muttered.
"Trent's spoiled girlfriend, that's what." I jumped at the voice and turned to find Xavier. He gave me a small smile. "Sorry. But yeah, that's Raya, Trent's girlfriend of two years."
"Two years already?" Luca and Blake appeared.
Blake scoffed. "I thought he was kidding."
"How can he put up with that for two years?" Luca seemed astonished. "I would've dumped her ass in two weeks flat."
Xavier rolled his eyes. "Today's her birthday, and she planned the surprise party she wanted Trent to throw for her. I guess we got the wrong coloured streamers."
"You know, Ma said those weren't the colour she wanted." Blake pointed out.
"And we thought she wouldn't notice." Luca shrugged. "Our bad."
"Poor Trent." I frowned. "She's still freaking out on him."
"Trent's in the shower." Luca said. "It's our mum she's freaking out on."
My eyes widened. "Are you serious?! Dude, I thought that was Trent. I'd be scared to yell at Hanna like that, what the hell."
"Raya doesn't care." Blake scoffed. "She gets what she wants, and if she doesn't get it, she freaks out on the person who's the reason why she didn't get it."
"That's so dumb." I shook my head. "Maybe I should go help out?"
Blake, Luca, and Xavier shook their heads frantically.
"No, no," Blake chuckled bitterly, "you'll make it worse."
"See, Trent hasn't exactly told Raya that a girl who isn't related to us has moved in to our house." Luca scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
I cringed. "And I assume she isn't going to take that well?"
Xavier nodded. "You've assumed right."
"Did someone let Charlie's fucking parrot in the house again?" Reece muttered as he joined the four of us. "All I hear is shrieking and I'm just about ready to strangle that damn bird."
"That's Raya shrieking her ass off, not Crackers." Blake snickered at the name. "She realized we got cherry red instead of blood red."
Reece rolled his eyes. "What's the fucking difference? She should just be happy that we even agreed to throw her this stupid party anyway."
"The party she planned." Xavier added.
"Where's Trent?" Reece asked.
"Probably out of the shower by now." Luca said.
Reece furrowed his eyebrows. "Then who is she yelling at?"
"Most likely Mum." Blake said.
Reece let out a guffaw. "That bitch is gonna die today."
