"Ma?" Flynn walked into my office.
I smiled at my younger son. "Hey, honey. What's up?"
"Um," he sighed, "Hunter told me about what happened to her."
"Oh?" I raised an eyebrow and closed my laptop. "She did?"
"Very briefly," he said, "and I just wanted to make sure that you and dad were gonna...you know, take good care of her and make sure she's okay and whatnot. She's one of the bestest friends I've made in forever and I don't want anything happening to her."
"Oh, Flynn." I waved my son closer to me and he sat in the seat beside me. "One of the main reasons we brought Hunter here was to take good care of her. 'Rough' doesn't begin to describe how it was for her back in Minnesota, but life is going to be much better for her here, I can promise that to you."
Flynn nodded. "Good, because Hunter deserves everything good in the world."
My heart melted. I was raising a good one.
