I didn't even know what to think as Raya spoke. My brain wanted to deny it, and just accuse her of lying, but the look of fear and defeat on Hunter's face, and the exasperated and worried expressions my parents had eliminated all those thoughts.
"Hunter?" I called her name softly. She was staring at Raya and Trent like she was in some sort of trance.
In a swift movement, she went from where she was standing to right in front of Raya. She lifted her off the couch by her shirt then wrapped her hands around Raya's neck. Raya started shrieking loudly and flailing her arms around.
"Hunter, no." Dean was over there in a second and was able to pry Hunter's hands from around Raya's neck. He had his arms wrapped around her torso tightly as she dragged her away, but that didn't stop her from trying to escape and continuing to scream and claw at Raya.
I watched as Hunter shoved Dean away, opened the front door, and made a run for it. Brant, Dean, Xavier, and Flynn all went after her, yelling her name as they ran.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Reece was furious. "Seriously Raya, what is the matter with you?"
"That was so uncalled for!" Ma screamed at her. Believe it or not, our mother had never raised her voice at Raya before. Hearing the anger in her voice made Raya take her seat real quick.
"How dare you?" She continued. "How dare you, Raya? Do you know how much pain and ugly memories you brought up to the surface for Hunter to relive again?"
Blake sucked in a breath. "It's true?"
Dad nodded, his jaw clenched tightly. "Not exactly like the way it was said, but yes."
I fell backwards on the couch. Holy fuck.
A deathly silence fell over us as we waited for Raya's response. She simply crossed one leg over the other and shrugged. "Whoops."
If it wasn't for Reece, Blake, and I running in front of our mother the moment Raya closed her mouth, she would've gotten her hands on Raya and finished what Hunter barely started.
"Get out!" Ma screamed through tears. "Get the hell out of my house and don't you ever think about coming back!"
Raya sat there like an idiot. Blake rolled his eyes before screaming, "The three of us will let her go and we don't give two flying fucks about what she does to you, Raya! You better get out now."
At that, Raya got up and quickly left the house. Trent sat there, staring into space. Ma collapsed in my arms and held on to be as she sobbed for a brief 30 seconds, then her head shot up. "Hunter, oh my God. Where'd she go?"
"She ran out." I said. Ma stood up and wiped her face, then started looking frantically around for her phone.
Reece stormed over to Trent, and almost exactly the way Hunter did it, he grabbed Trent by the collar of his shirt and pulled him to his feet. "Are you fucking happy, Trent?!" Reece was right in his face. "Are you happy?! You probably ruined her life, and now that big mouth girlfriend knows! What is wrong with you? Have you no compassion for someone other than yourself and Raya?!"
"I didn't fucking tell her, Reece!" Trent had never screamed so loud in his life. His voice cracked. Reece looked somewhat scared as he dropped Trent's shirt and took a step back. Trent even looked scared of himself. "I didn't tell her."
