Prologue

The sun shone through the trees, illuminating the small sand castle that the boy had constructed. He was the only kid in the sandbox but trivial things like that never mattered to him. Most of the time he enjoyed being alone. Which is why he was so annoyed when another kid, about his age, came up to him and asked to play.

Be nice to other kids, make new friends, his mother always said. "Sure. You can play with me." The standing boy smiled at the invitation and kneels to help with the east wing.

"Where are you from?" The younger boy ignores the nosy child and scoots farther away, focusing on the west wing. "My names-"

"I kinda just wanted to play in peace." He interrupts him and the older boy slightly nods, finding a leaf for the makeshift flag.

"... Sorry."

They play for about 10 minutes in silence before the younger boy had to leave. "My moms here. Bye." He picks up his shovel and bucket before walking to the grey van.

"B-bye." But the older's farewell went unheard.
